Sims 3 + MacOS Sonoma

For the past few weeks I've been trying to get my Sims 3 game(plus expansion packs) to work on my MacOS laptop.

The game takes a lengthy time to load. However when it does, it just seems loop when it reaches the Sims 3 world menu. It'll say "connecting".

Also the Sims 3 store that's a part of the menu screen is another headache. Because I can't log in. I changed my password, still didn't work.

Any advice/solutions?

P.S. The version of my laptop is 14.6.1

  • MissJag93  Skip the online login for now.  The login at the launcher doesn't do anything at all; the one at the Main Menu is only for the few online features like SimPort and badges.  The rest of the game plays the same whether you've signed in or not.

To clear the "connecting" status, open Keychain Access, inside Applications > Utilities, search for sims3 , and delete any entries you find.

If you do want to try to login at some point in the future, do so at the Main Menu, not the launcher.  And make sure your password doesn't contain any special characters, only letters and numbers.  While special characters work fine on other EA sites, Sims 3 doesn't handle them well.

Update: I can't seem to make it pass this pesky screen. I've went through Keychain Access, there's no Sims3 entries.

  • MissJag93  That's strange, I have two, one from the last time I launched the game on this Mac, and I didn't sign in (other than to the EA App of course).  Have you selected Local Items in the left panel of Keychain Access, and All Items at the top?  Please double-check.

It's also worth deleting the file labeled [your email].bin in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads.

  • MissJag93  Do you see anything in Keychain Access with EA or Sims in its name at all?  And to be clear, are you trying to sign in again, or does the Connecting message show up even if you don't?

Please create a new admin account on your Mac and try playing there.  You'll of course need to sign into the EA App, but don't do so at the launcher or Main Menu; just see whether you can get far enough to start a new save.
