@warmteainmyhand Does this house have a pet in it? If so, please try moving in a household that doesn't have a pet, just as a test.
Please also attach your deviceconfig.log, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3. You can delete your user and computer names, about 25 lines down, but there's nothing else in that file that can identify you.
- VSheriff5 years agoSeasoned Rookie@puzzlezaddict mine does the same thing, and yes the family has pets.So is this a problem with the expansion?
@VSheriff There are numerous reports that trying to place a household that includes a pet. It would be useful to know whether your crashes in particular are due to the pet or to something else. And please attach the deviceconfig mentioned above as well, so we can see your hardware and settings.
Hi! The same thing happens to me. It’s very annoying. I’m able to create a house and a household but not play in live mode. I’ve called EA and they had me uninstall and re-install the game as well as origin but that did nothing. My Mac is a few months old (so very new) and has all the recommended specs. Please let me know if you fix your issue because I’m running out of ideas....
I called EA again and they basically said they’re unable to see the crash on their end (admitted it makes everything harder haha...) and said IF they get more complaints like this, they’ll open the case and find the issue. So it seems they won’t really have an answer unless they look for it which they won’t if not enough people complain....
I was able to open the household without a pet, however it still crashed within the first ten minutes of playing... I also am not prepared to accept not having pets as a solve since I consider pets and animals to be an important part of the game.
I hope EA is working on a fix and able to rectify the situation soon... They wouldn't have worked this long to create a 64-bit version for it not to be playable (and I promise to buy more expansions/extra stuff if it does *wink* *wink* *EA employees*)
I agree. We paid for these games and the pets expansion pack is a particularly good game pack I use ALL the time ;-; I definitely won't accept not having pets as the solution. Maybe if we keep calling them and telling them it crashes, they'll open it as an official issue and actually try to solve it ?
I'm having this same issue. As soon as I select a household, the game completely crashes and closes. I can't play at all. This is so frustrating, especially after spending so much money with the Sims franchise.
@XprincessdidiY @warmteainmyhand and @missminimama85 Please attach your deviceconfig.log, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3. You'll neeed to manually open the folders; the file won't show up in a search. You can delete your user and computer names, about 25 lines down, but there's nothing else in that file that can identify you.
Please also try turning down the graphics to the minimum settings and putting the game in windowed mode, at least for now. It's a useful test, even if you don't want to play that way going forward. Change the settings at the Main Menu and then quit the game before loading a save.
@XprincessdidiY I'm curious whether it works to place a family without a pet and then adopt one in live mode. I agree that you should be able to play with pets, but maybe that would be a useful workaround for now.
@missminimama85 Please clarify whether the household you're trying to place does have a pet in it.
@MaxisJoe @puzzlezaddict Hi! I was directed to this thread since I get "TS3 quit unexpectedly" every time I play. I see someone else in this thread has this issue and i've spoken to a few different players with this issue as well so I'm glad it's not just me..
@missminimama85 I'm tagging you here cause you mentioned having this issue too. I'm hoping this will give us a solution!
Long story short: It quits every time I go into live mode. CAS and build mode worked fine but now the second I play, it shuts down without even necessarily freezing. I'm unable to change household since it quits before I have time to do anything.
My Mac has all the recommended specs as far as I know and is only a few months old.
Processor: 1.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 (1 processor, 4 cores)
Memory: 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 (I also have an additional 140+ GB I pay for monthly at apple if that helps..)
Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 1536 MB
I have two memory sloths each with 8GB :
Type: LPDDR3
Speed: 2133 MHz
Status: OK
Note: I noticed "the sims 3" folder is nowhere in my computer/in my EA folder. I ONLY have "TS3 packs". In comparison, my sims 4 folder has a TON including "saves" "mods" etc etc. I have uninstalled both origin and TS3 4-5 times now and still nothing. It just seems like my computer isn't downloading the files?? Maybe it's normal idk.. but I could've sworn I saw all the files the first time around downloading 64 bit version before the CD key issue (Where I had uninstalled and re-installed thinking that would fix it prior to getting the CD key).
Please let me know if there's any other information I can provide that could help fix the issue. I appreciate the sims team helping us right now.
@puzzlezaddict Here's the thing....I don't even have "the sims 3" folder anywhere in my computer! I have uninstalled and re-installed both origin and TS3 thinking it would appear as it should (right??) but nothing. If I go documents > EA> I only have TS4 and then "TS3 packs". I'm wondering if that's the issue??...

Edit: I have successfully ran the game without a pet in my household. I created a new sim, bought a house and everything ran smoothly like I remember it 10 years ago (makes me happy cause I love this game). I don't mind not having a pet for a bit if that's the issue. Do you predict EA will be working to fix the pets expansion pack?
Also, should I be concerned about the lack of TS3 folder in my files/documents
