Sims 3 64-bit crashing every time I select a house to play - game unplayable

I've installed the Sims 3 64-bit to my Macbook Pro 2020 but am only able to run it up until I try to play a house/start "live" mode, and the game immediately crashes and closes the window. It does this consistently - I am able to create a family, but not play at all.

Is there a fix in the works for this? (I'm sure it can't be an isolated issue). Please let me know when I can expect to be able to play as I was very excited to play once I saw the 64 bit version had been released...

@VSheriff  To attach a deviceconfig, open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, find the file on the list, and move or copy it to your desktop.  (It doesn't matter, the game will make a new one.)  You'll neeed to manually open the folders; the file won't show up in a search.  You can open the file with TextEdit and delete your user and computer names, about 25 lines down, but there's nothing else in that file that can identify you.  Then you can attach it to a post by cliking the Browse button below the text field and selecting the file.

@warmteainmyhand  Thanks for testing.  I'm not sure what's going on here, but it does seem like there's an obvious pattern with integrated chips not being able to handle pets.  Does it help if you play in windowed mode?  I've seen mixed reports.

For the sim birthdays, you can trigger a sim's age transition with a cheat.  Bring up the cheats console (crtl-shift-C) and enter "testingcheatsenabled true" without quotes.  Then shift-click on a sim and select "Trigger age transition."  Or you could buy a birthday cake (in sort by function > Hobbies and Skills > Parties) and have a sim blow out the candles, but that takes a little while longer.  Since this is just for testing, you can quit without saving when you're done.

  • Tested it via cheat - I was able to age up a Sim without a crash. Still can't play a household with a pet though. There was some kind of update today but it didn't help.

@puzzlezaddict Do we know if the issues with the pets EP is going to be addressed? I think people should be aware to not purchase it until its fixed

@VSheriff  I don't know when, or if, any issues are going to be fixed, sorry.  Playing with pets does work fine on computers with dedicated graphics cards, as far as I can tell (and I've tested myself), so I'm not sure what's going on with integrated chps and whether it can or will be addressed.
