Sims 3 64-bit: Origin says Install instead of Play
A number of people have reported that when the download of Sims 3 finishes, Origin says Install instead of Play. Clicking Install either does nothing or causes Origin to verify for a few seconds before the Install button returns. There are several causes of this issue.
The Mac does not meet requirements for the 64-bit Sims 3.
If your Mac does not support Metal v.2, the game may not install. Please make sure that your macOS is High Sierra (10.13) or later AND that your Mac supports Metal. Please see this list of Metal-capable Macs.

The 32-bit version of Sims 3 was previously installed.
If you previously installed the 32-bit version at any point, you'll need to do a clean uninstall of that version, including manually removing all the hidden Library files. The built-in uninstaller does not remove these files. Please see this guide for a clean uninstall.
Restart your computer and run the Origin reset tool for macOS before trying to reinstall Sims 3.
(If you later cannot install store content, please see this post.)
If neither of these applies
Please run the Origin reset tool for macOS, restart your computer, and try to download only the base game, no packs yet. You can move on to your expansions and stuff packs when the base game is installed.
If this doesn't help either, please create a new user account on your Mac, and try installing Sims 3 into that account. It needs to be an admin account; the username should contain only letters and/or numbers, no special characters, accents, etc.
If you still can't install Sims 3, please post and list the full specs of your Mac, including operating system.
