Sims 3 64 bit update Graphics Glitches

I updated my 13-inch MacBook Air to BigSur iOS about 3 days ago and I've noticed the Sims 3 has started to have graphical issues. I'm playing in Bridgeport and the water has a weird texture to it and the game starts to crash more frequently now and is running slower. Anyone else having this issue?

So, based on previous responses in this thread I thought to uninstall my game, move the Electronic Arts folder to my desktop, and reinstall hoping for a clean refresh. I was able to make a new family/save under Moonlight Falls, but tried making new saves in Sunset Valley and Bridgeport (for experimentation purposes) and the game either froze up during the loading screen, or the display started flashing until I had to force quit. Also, the pixelated map edges are still an issue. Is there anything additional I can do? I've attached my device config log.

@mromero1010  I've merged your posts with a more current thread on this issue, one that I've flagged.  I don't know whether there's a good fix for the problem right now, although we can hope that Apple will address this with a graphics driver update at some point.

Please click Me Too on the first post of this thread.

By the way, it would be helpful if you could test each world you own, all in a clean user folder (other than store worlds if you own any), and let me know which worlds are affected.  You don't need to post a screenshot for all of them; I'd just like a list.  It's possible this is an issue with how certain worlds are rendered and not others, and knowing that would be useful.

I saw your posts on another thread and we're having the same crashing report. When you uninstalled TS3 how did you go about it?

@ayyysims3  If you want to uninstall the 64-bit version of Sims 3, just open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 3 icon, and select Uninstall.  If you're looking to start fresh with new saves, you don't need to uninstall; simply remove the Sims 3 user folder from Documents > Electronic Arts.  The game will create a new folder, with no saves or other content, the next time you open the launcher.

Okay, I'm going to do this and see if it'll change any of the graphical issues I'm having. Wish me luck!

  • This did not work for me, I changed my settings and everything and I'm still having green flashes. Hopefully there will be an update soon, but for now, the game is unplayable for me.

@ayyysims3  I forwarded the graphics issue a couple of weeks ago, but I don't know whether anything will come of it.  In the meantime, I'd suggest updating your operating system whenever you're offered the chance.  It's possible a new graphics driver would help, and when a new driver is available, it's included in the newest build of the OS.
