@desia2003 You can tell the game to run in windowed mode by changing the setting manually. Open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, open the file labeled options.ini, cmd-f to search for "fullscreen," and set it to 0 (zero). Save and quit, and when you launch the game, it should be in windowed mode.
If that doesn't work, let me know what pointing device you're using (trackpad, magic mouse, a mouse not made by Apple, etc.), and if you can, please test with a different device.

@desia2003 Are you actually in windowed mode (fullscreen = 0), or do you see black bars along the sides of the screen? The latter happens in fullscreen: the game window doesn't fit the screen size, and the black bars take up the extra space.
Anyway, fullscreen = 1 makes the game run in fullscreen, and fullscreen = 0 makes it run in windowed mode.
- 5 years ago@puzzlezaddict When I went to open the file, it told me that I had no app to open it with. It directed me to the apple store then said "the app isn't available in my country" (USA). I'm currently using a trackpad and I won't be able to use a mouse until later today. I am in windowed screen when I open, no black bars or anything

@desia2003 Normally you could open the file with TextEdit, which is already installed in macOS. But please do try the mouse, and if it doesn't work, you can try fullscreen mode.
