sims 3 alder lake (intel 12th gen) not launching with mods

i've been using the powershell script trick from Miaa245 which works and launches the game but when i add my mods folder, it behaves weirdly. It will load then "crash" but the game will still be open, with a black screen, kick me out onto my desktop, and i have to force close it. How can i launch the game with my mods folder?? The reason i dont use the Alder Lake.exe from Lazy Duchess is because i do not have a game/bin folder, the electronic arts folder is in my documents, not in my Program x86. I even tested out a Mods folder with just the basic mods the framework comes with, the issue persists. I used Delphy's Dashboard and deleted all corrupt, conflicting, and duplicate mods. Still nothing!

Hello. I typed a reply but it seems it did not send. To summarize, that is the same exact frameworks folder i initially used, it turns out although i removed corrupt mods with Delphy's tool, one specific folder was causing this mayhem, which was my "new mods testing folder." Thanks for all your help, it looks like i'm going to have to figure out which mod is doing this !

  • this got my sims 3 from steam to launch but when i add my mods folder into electronic arts, the game kicks me onto my desktop and the game is technically open but stays black so i have to force close it, basically i’m unable to launch with mods

  • @coco_2729  Two common reasons for Sims 3 to crash at launch with mods added is having the NRaas MasterController Progression module without both the base MC and StoryProgression mods, and having Cupcake installed without the Store bakery set.  For the latter, it's important to confirm that the set is not only installed but loading in-game.

If those don't apply, does the game work with this version of the Mods Framework, plus the two small sample mods?

Please test it if you haven't already, and don't add any other mods to it yet.

You do in fact have a Bin folder somewhere, with both TS3.exe and TS3W.exe, or else Sims 3 wouldn't run at all.  Where that folder is depends on how you installed the game, but it's there somewhere.  If you still can't find it, search for TS3W in a File Explorer window.

hello thank you so much for replying, i don’t have either of those mods, and i have made all my sims 3 packs into packages. i tried launching the game with just the framework mods folder and it didn’t work so my guess is there is some type of issue maybe powershell script doesn’t allow you to launch with mods?? i don’t know. as for alder lake.exe i’d love to do it if my game can run with mods but i do not know where my game/bin is ☹️

    I found the bin folder.

FOR STEAM USERS: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 3\Game\Bin

i installed the alder lake.exe patch and when it launches the screen goes black and the mouse buffers for a little, then after a few minutes the game loaded up! this time i had my mods folder in BEFORE installing the patch. I’ll update a little later on how the gameplay went and if it crashes!

Update: it got all the way to the second loading screen, loading bar was almost full and it crashed. I try to play the game and it says, “this app can’t run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher.” SO ANNOYING. i removed the alder lake patch and the pc version problem went away when i load up with power shell script. I have tried what feels like EVERYTHING, including the task manager method to launch sims 3 and nothing will launch with mods. It launched with mods using Power shell script and then crashed less than a minute in.

@coco_2729  If you haven't already, please download the Mods Framework I linked and test it.  Don't add anything to the folders.  If the game doesn't work, take out the two sample mods and try loading the game with just the resource.cfg plus the folders.  I'm asking you to test this framework, specifically, and not one you create or download elsewhere, for a couple of reasons, one of which is that it eliminates a few potential sources of error.  So please do that if you haven't already, and let me know how it goes.

If that doesn't help, what antivirus do you use, and does it help to disable the program (temporarily, of course) before launching Sims 3?  Is OneDrive running on this computer, whether you use it or not, and does it help to pause syncing?  The option shows up when you right-click the OneDrive (cloud) icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.

I want to reiterate that this is not normal behavior for Sims 3, with or without the presence of the Alder Lake issue.
