Sims 3 Ambitions: Jobs Glitch & more

I recently purchased Sims 3 Ambitions and ever since I have been plagued by issues.

1a. Working as an inventor after playing for a few days I will go to the consignment store and try to buy/sell and my sim just talks to the store worker like it was a normal socal interaction. This makes earning a living as an inventor impossible.

1b. I am not able to sell Gems or Metals to the consignment store. I dont know if that is actually where you are supposed to sell them. I have just seen uncut or unsmelted stuff for sale in the store but I am unable to sell them.

2. As a Ghost hunter I will work on that character for a few days and it will stop recognizing that I have completed jobs. I will collect all the ghosts and it will say 0/5 ghosts collected. It will do that with all forms of the ghost hunter jobs.

3. Sometimes my Sims will get out of the shower and be completely naked no blur or anything. The Sims are anatomically incorrect just like a Barbie or Ken Doll so it is not offensive but it is clearly a glitch

4. The game will crash randomly sometimes with an error saying insufficient memory. Even if the game does not crash there is always the memory error when I close the game.

I own The Sims 3 with Late Night, Ambitions, Date Night and High End Loft. I only recently purchased the Ambitions add on and that is when the issues began. I uninstalled/reinstalled everything Sims 3 on my computer, ran the Super patch and deleted the cache folders the reps instructed me to delete and the issue persists. I am running the game on a Samsung laptop running Windows 8.1 with 4 Gigs of RAM and over 600 Gigs of free disk space.

Thanks for reading everything

are you clicking on the cash register to consign the items ? where a menu thingy pops up pretty much like buying from the grocery store and there are tabs one buy the other consign

tbh I've never consigned the cut gems and smelted metals as I always sold them from the back pack  which I drag and drop sell items in the back pack inventory so try consign the uncut gems and unsmelted metals

"The Sims are anatomically incorrect just like a Barbie or Ken Doll so it is not offensive but it is clearly a glitch"

that's about right the sims do look like Barbie/Ken if the censor blur doesn't show which can sometime happen if a work outfit is corrupt so take the sim to a dresser plan outfit in the career tab if they have more than one outfit delete the extras if they have one outfit make a new one

the ghost hunter career is not working the way it should nor the firefighter career is working like it should either I've played the firefighter and the stylist career had my funny moments with that sometimes I've had to cancel the job to get the next one or in the firefighter one  I've had to loose job experience because the particular job I was on because my guy and gal could not enter the apartment no matter how one tried

not sure if you may be need to reset the ram on your laptop to help with the  insufficient memory or if you can increase the virtual page file size anyway i'll post this in the helpers corner to see if someone can assist with the relevant information you need on that

Thanks for the naked sim fix. As for the consignment issue I try clicking on both the register and the Sim behind it and it does not open the buy/consign page. It will work up to a certain point then just stop. It seems to do it if I make it there at or a little after 5 o'clock which seems to be the closing time. Then I will go back the next day ant 11 o'clock the apparent opening time and it still wont work. I can understand not working after closing time but it seems to trigger the store to become a regular building. I will save and quit and the issue carries over.

I am a little ashamed to ask but how does one reset their RAM on Win 8 I have never even heard of resetting RAM.... I run CCleaner regularly

welcomes on the  fix 🙂  I wonder if something is wrong with lot as in my game the consignment opens at 8 or 9 am and closes at five you could try this go to edit town click on the consignment shop just throw some beds or sofa's on the lot ( sometimes with bulldozing the grid lo can disappear and there is usually no way to get it back so throwing some furniture  helps in preventing that ) so throw some furniture in the lot then bulldoze it then from the library place  a new consignment store an npc will spawn for the lot at business hours

don't be ashamed asking questions is good and this is how we including me or is that I ?  learn 🙂 anyways with some laptops  mac's the ram can be reset other laptops I have no idea and that's when we ask our mac player/helper to assist those who have macs  I have posted your issue in the helpers corner for someone to look at the part where you said about the saying insufficient memory  no idea when someone will be online as we live in different time zones but someone will reply to that

  • Do you have 32 bit or 64 bit Windows ?

You do only have 4 GB. Windows uses at least 1 GB of that which leaves you with 3. If you also have background programs running that amount is decreased as well so it's very well the game does not get as much RAM as it needs.

I am running 64bit I want to upgrade my RAM but I am financially unable to at this time. Is there any other way besides CCleaner to clean up any background programs? It doesnt seem to be a major issue the ony time it boots me out of the game is when AVG or Malwarebytes yells at me to update. Their pop ups I guess put me over my RAM capacity so as long as I keep that up to date (which is best practice anyways) I will only get a warning. This game has alot of glitches I dont know If I am gonig to want to buy The Sims 4.

@ewallace07278     I have malwarebyte and avast but I set malwarebytes not to run on start up and only runs when I tell it to If i want to play my game I set the antivirus to silent gaming mode which stops the pop ups while playing  I right click the avast icon in the taskbar and select  silent gaming mode I don't know if avg has that  so you could try that and see if it make a  difference i even have origin set to not auto launch in the start up I have to manually click it to launch

In the Search programs and files box, type msconfig and click on the msconfig icon that appears. When the System Configuration window appears, click on the Startup tab.  Then uncheck those programs you wish not to start and click Apply
