SIMS 3 BASE GAME UP TO DATE?

I am trying to download Sims 3 Mods (Master Contorller etc.) to get more than 8 sims. I *know* how to download it and have gone through so many tutorials and all are the same. Here's my question. They said you have to download the correct patch. My game version is 1.0.631.00001- I go to Game Updates and it says My game is fully up to date, but then it says it cannot connect to EA Downloading Manager? Should I download that?

I am so confused with if I am really up to date or not. HELP? 🙂

  • first  move your mods folder to the desktop for now then clear the cache files

second launch the launcher and hover the mouse over the base game icon to find your version number if it does not say 1.67 then it is indeed out of date

to delete the cach files go to electronic arts/the sims 3/

    •CasPartCache.package
    •compositorCache.package
    •scriptCache.package
    •simCompositorCache.package
    •socialCache.package.package

it's safe to delete these files as a new ones will regenerate

download the superpatch for your regeion and or compter PC or Mac

    How to install

    1. Download the patch to a place of your choice on your hard drive (don't choose to run it directly, download it first in case something goes wrong)
    2. Find the file and double click on it to install
    3. Wait until the patch is installed
    4. Done

then DO NOT for now place your mods folder back run the game start a new game to make sure  launches and plays correctly and also so as to leave your other save/modified  games as they are and for when you put your mods folder  back

then make sure to get your mods updated  that are/will be at the same patch level as your game  for example if you have a mod at 1.0.63 it'll be outdated as your game once patched up will be 1,67
