Sims 3 Crashing on Launch with Mods

I have the alder lake patch installed, which fixed the problem of the game not launching at all on my newer laptop. However, whenever I add my mods folder (even if I bypass the launcher), the game opens a window with a black screen and then promptly closes. I've tried narrowing down my mods to identify the culprit, but no amount of downsizing seems to work unless I have only the NRaas mods installed. I don't understand why this is so hard because I've used mods in the past on a different PC, but for whatever reason, I can't get the game to work on my current system.

I have the mods dashboard installed, and it does identify some conflicts, but I thought they were false warnings because it pretty much only occurs with  (1) multiple packages that are part of the same mod download or (2) various mods by the same creator that shouldn't conflict. The dashboard isn't identifying any corrupt files, and I've made sure to only download up to date mods, but whenever I try to troubleshoot this issue, I'm told either (1) that it's an compatibility or corruption issue, or (2) that my mods folder isn't properly set up with the two subfolders and the Resource.cfg file.

I've tried everything I can think of, including deleting my cache files and generating a new "The Sims 3" documents folder, but nothing seems to work, and it's very frustrating since I rely on mods to fix a lot of issues in the game.

I realize there may not be much I can do in this case, but if anyone has any advice or suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

  • DanaePlatinumP  A lot of flagged conflicts are in fact false warnings, but more importantly, the tool is mostly flagging files that conflict with each other, not mods that are broken or incompatible with the game itself.  So it's not a good way to find the mod that's breaking your game.

You've said the game works with only NRaas mods installed, but does that include Cupcake or the MC Progression module?  Cupcake will crash the game on launch if the bakery Store set isn't loading, and MC Progression can do so as well if the base MC and StoryProgression modules aren't present.

Please also look over the documentation for your mods and make sure that you don't have any that require packs you don't own.  If some require packs you DO own (for example the User-directed Scolding mod requires Generations), make sure your packs are in fact loading in-game.

Other than that, add back a few mods at a time, or use the 50/50 method to test your non-NRaas mods.
