Sims 3 is suddenly not working

@TirzaBrands  Try restarting your computer if you haven't already.  Sometimes it really is that simple, especially on machines with 8 GB RAM, where most of the memory may be used at any given time.

If that doesn't help, rename the Sims 3 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts and try again to play.  The game will create a new folder when you open the launcher.  If this works, the problem is likely something in the old Sims 3 folder, and we can start testing that content.

If renaming the folder doesn't work, or you get an error when you try, take your computer offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi before pressing Play.

I restarted my computer, but it didn't work.

If I rename my sims 3 folder, will i lose my save?

I always play in de offline modus, so I don't think that is the problem.

@TirzaBrands  When you rename the Sims 3 user folder, the game can't read your saves anymore, but the saves themselves are still intact.  They can be restored later.  The point is to test without them though, so please do that.

Playing with the EA App in offline mode is not as thorough as taking your computer offline, so if you're only using offline mode, please do both.
