Sims 3: Island Pardise Cyclic Redundancy Check

I have the sims 3 base game installed. Previously I also had all the other expansions (and one stuff pack) installed when this happened, so I tried uninstalling all the games, installed the base game...

Did you buy the base game back when it came out or did you re-buy it ?

What error are you getting when trying to register ?

I assume it was bought when it first came out; I have the original and I have deluxe edition which is really just the original with the ambitions pack included. However, a friend gave me these a couple years ago and this is the first time I've had such a problem with any of them.
