Sims 3 Launcher Error

I have the base game complete with all the EPs, whenever I open the launcher to try install custom content or play the game. An error pops up in my screen which disrupts the process of installing CC/opening the game.

    @bxbytrishx  Can you play at all?  It would also help if you could grab a screenshot of the error and attach it to a post; I don't have it on my end (at least not yet).

    Try clearing the cache for Internet Explorer.  Even if you never use it, the launcher does for some purposes.  Be sure to uncheck the box to preserve data for favorite sites.

    If that doesn't help, please move your entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game (or try to), a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Let me know whether this helps.  If it does, you can move all of your existing content from the old folder to the new one.  Here's an explanation of what's in those files, so you know which ones to keep:

    I can play, but not install mods/custom content because of the error that pops up every minute. I already tried removing the cache from Internet Explorer, though, I will have to try the other method you told me.

    @bxbytrishx  Installing mods shouldn't be affected, since they don't have anything to do with the launcher.  The same goes for .package-based custom content.  Many cc creators offer both .package files and .Sims3packs, so you could choose not to involve the launcher at all.  If the cc you want doesn't come in .package form though, and my other suggestion doesn't work, you could try installing while your computer is offline.  Let me know whether it makes a difference.

    I have the same problem! Only, I get a black square.. and nothing happens..

    I also just reinstalled the game and everything seems fine until I launch the game.
    I'm just stuck in the main launch screen and it pops up with an error saying it's having trouble communicating with the servers

    I put my laptop offline and tried opening the launcher again, and I didn't receive the error. I was able to install CC, yay!

    @Chanip91  It's possible the item you're trying to install is corrupt in some way.  Again in a clean folder, please try installing some other item.  Start with something from the Sims 3 Store, if you own any content.  (Riverview is free if you've registered your game.)  If that works, you can try custom content.  If it doesn't work, try another browser, specifically Firefox or Internet Explorer.
