Sims 3 Not Launching

@mermaid2600  To run the Alder Lake patch, you extract it if it's a .zip (right-click and Extract), double-click it to launch it, navigate to TS3.exe (EA App install) or TS3W.exe (with the W, disc or Steam install), and select it.  The patch will do the rest for you.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Thanks. I have gone into TS3 and TS3W but can't find a .exe file anywhere? where would they be?

An update.. I uninstalled and reloaded the game again. Found 2 application files - TS3 and TS3W. They didn't have .exe though?

I tried opening by clicking on them but it just kept going back to the launch screen again.

@mermaid2600  You're not seeing the .exe because Windows is set to hide file extensions, but they're the correct files.  You'll need to apply the patch to the correct one (again, TS3 if you've installed through the EA App, TS3W for a Steam install or a disc install that doesn't require the EA App), then try again to play.  If that doesn't help, I do need a dxdiag.

hi Thank you sooo much! that did work. I am able to launch the game now!!

However - it is really pixellated and glitchy looking. 

I've updated my drivers... is there anything else I can do to improve the picture and get rid of the pixels?

@mermaid2600  Please post a screenshot or two of the pixellation and glitchiness you're seeing, so I have a better idea of the problem.

Please also go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, open DeviceConfig, copy the first 40 or so lines (stop when you get to Options), and paste them here.  You can delete your user and computer names, about 20 lines down; the file doesn't contain any other personal information.

For the DeviceConfig, that happens sometimes, but please make sure you're opening it in Notepad rather than another app, just in case the other app isn't reading the file correctly.
