If your Sims 3 won’t launch from the EA App — or it says “Launching” then closes — follow these steps:
Check your antivirus:
Add The Sims 3 folder to your exclusions list.
Repair the game:
In the EA App, right-click The Sims 3 → Repair → wait until it finishes.
Launch directly:
Run the game from
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3.exe
(Right-click → Run as Administrator.)
Install DirectX 9:
Download and install the DirectX 9 End-User Runtime (June 2010) from Microsoft, then restart your PC.
Add DEP exception:
Control Panel → System → Advanced System Settings → Performance → Settings → Data Execution Prevention →
“Turn on DEP for all programs except those I select” → Add TS3.exe, This helps prevent crashes.
Optional:
If you still have issues, reinstall the game to a simple path such as C:\Games\The Sims 3\
to avoid Windows permission conflicts.
Notes:
• EA App no longer uses TS3W.exe — the game now launches through TS3.exe.
• TS3.exe already includes Large Address Aware (LAA) support.
