@Hara39 Please try playing in Sunset Valley, just for comparison. Appaloosa Plains should be fine too, but it's easier to start with a world we know works as well as any that EA released. Start a new save for testing and see how it runs.
If the game crashes, please turn the lighting and tree detail graphics settings down to the minimum. Do so at the Main Menu, then quit to desktop before loading a save. Otherwise, you could get some very strange graphics glitches.
If that doesn't help, try playing with no pets in the household.
If that doesn't help either, try uninstalling the Pets pack. All you have to do is delete the EP05 folder from the Sims 3 Packs folder, which will be in either Applications or Users > [your username] > Applications. Play again in Sunset Valley and see how things go.
@puzzlezaddict When I tried playing in Sunset Valley the game crushed within 5 minutes. It did the same when I lowered the graphics. However, it seemed to run fine when I played in a household with no pets..
Isn’t there a way to play with pets ?

@Hara39 There may be a way to play with pets, or some kinds of pets, but you'll need to experiment a bit. Try disabling horses and see whether it helps. If not, and you're willing to use a mod, it may help to add NRaas Register and set the wild horse population to zero. (You may need to disable strays entirely: they tend to spawn and get stuck in inconvenient locations.) You can experiment on new saves so as not to affect your current ones.
