Sims 3 social worker won't deliver a pet...

I have used a computer to try and "Adopt a Pet from Shelter", I have successfully been able to choose the pet and accept the options. I am then told that the social worker will deliver the pet in the next few (in-game) days. 

I have waited an extremely long time (well over 2 in-game weeks), I have relaunched the game multiple times, I have tried adopting a pet from a neighbour (which works, but doesn't cause the social worker to turn up) and even used the "resetsim *" command. I would copy the family to a new town, but I can't access the "Edit Town" mode whilst the social worker is delivering the pet.

I'm not sure what else to try, but a solution would be brilliant as I am restriced to staying in the same lot, and cannot travel whilst waiting for my pet to be delivered!! And the family I have is my main one!!

    This is a rather common issue as well. I do not know of any non-mod solutions to this.

    You could try to reset the while neighborhood though. Maybe the social worker is stuck somewhere.

    To do so, use the cheat resetsim *

    Other suggestion: Can you switch active families ? If so, try that.

    Make a backup of your game before doing so.

    I have tried using the "resetsim *" command to no avail, I have tried in map view and while looking at many different places throughout the town to see if it would make a difference... it didn't.

    How do you mean switch active families?? If you mean through the use of the Edit Town menu, I cannot access that (because the social worker is "delivering" my pet).

    I think I may just have to begin a new family!! I will however do the same steps to see if it simply a bug/glitch with that particular house just out of curiosity!! :D

    Yeah, I don't think there is a way then that does not involve a mod.

    What seemed to fix this issue for me was throwing a party and then adopting right after.  Using mods to activate another house doesn't fix the issue, the horse and social worker still remain outside the other house and resetting the town doesn't fix it either.

    One of the NRaas mods has an option to drop the adoption process which usually solves the issues.

    this also happened to me and I went on website after website to find a solution. then I went into my game, went into options, and the very last tab is where you wanna be. there you see the population control settings. make sure that pets and horses are turned on. mine weren't, so the cat that I adopted wasn't showing up.

    I just found out that my delivered pet wont come because they said ive treated a pet poorly the last time i had it.... they said i have to wait till im allowed to adopt a pet...
