Sims 3 Supernatural Keeps Crashing On Me

I just recently bought "Sims 3 Plus Supernatural" for my PC, and I installed it and started playing. As I was creating a family I decided to use some of my Sims Points to buy a custom hairstyle. After I got the hairstyle, the game got really dark for some reason and it wouldn't correct itself.

Recently whenever I try creating a household, it crashes in the middle of it and returns me to my desktop. 

It said at one point that one of the drivers stopped working and had restored, but it has stopped saying that now and it crashes constantly.

Now whenever I play Life Mode, it crashes, and when I go into Build/Buy mode it also crashes.

I never have background programs running whenever I use Sims 3, I even mark my Skype and Oovoo as "Offline".

The only custom contant I have is stuff that is created directly from the Sims 3 website, not from "The Exchange". I removed any unwanted custom things and it still persists.

The Custom Things I have are;

  • "Softly Swept Hair"
  • "Show Stopping Style- Pop Star Hairstyle"
  • "Faux Fur Accent"
  • "Deidre Explorer's Shirt"
  • "The Bowie"
  • "Happily Ever After - Heroic Hair"

The game is updated to the latest version and all the visual settings are at the lowest setting possible. As is the Audio settings.

I was told I needed to give people these specfic things from my DirectX Diagnostic Tool, so, here;

Please help. This game cost me a lot of money and I do not have any money left to afford a new computer and/or new drivers and/or new graphic cards.

    Could you post the graphic card part of your DxDiag so I can how much dedicated RAM you have ? It does sound more like a hardware or drivers issue.

    Did you try updating or reinstalling the graphic drivers ?

    If you could point me to the specifics on what you need and how to access it , that would be wonderful.

    Also, I think my drivers are as updated as they can be, but I don't know how to check. I also don't know how to reinstall them.

    To gather a DxDiag on your computer, please follow the steps below:

    If you have Microsoft Windows XP:
    1. Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
    2. Select Run.
    3. Type dxdiag in the available text field.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Click Save All Information.

    If you have Windows Vista/Win 7 and do not have a Run selection:

    1. Click On Start
    2 Type dxdiag into Search Box
    3. Click Save All Information.


    Just need the graphic card part.

    Your driver seem to be really old. Try updating them: https://help.ea.com/article/finding-devices-and-updating-drivers

    Uh, okay. I'm not very smart when it comes to technology and I don't see a little thing where it says "Graphic Card" at all on there. I'm probably being an idiot and a pain in your butt.

    Also, I will follow that link and try updating my drivers. Thank you. This is my father's old computer, so, I'm pretty sure it needed updating in the first place.

    I'll tell you if the problem persists after I update the drivers.

    I updated all of my drivers from Sound to Graphics, and I tested the game.

    It's letting me create a Sim, but as I was creating their household, it crashed, like usual.

    This frustration isn't leaving me alone.

    Any other suggestions or solutions?

    I kinda fear that your computer is not up to the task. Your processor is rather low in specs and that chip might be a problem as well. Can't tell you for sure until I know how much dedicated memory you have.

    Were you able to generate the whole DxDiag report ? If so, just paste it on here. It won't al fit, so post as much as you can.

    Would you possibly be able to help me as well?  I have had the Sims 3 on my computer for a ling time and have just recently started having problems with it since I got supernatural and a new stuff pack.  No one has answered my question in the forum.  Let me know if you can help me or give me any advice on my situation as well.  Thank you

    Your computer has no dedicated memory at all. With all they stuff they added, I'm sorry to say that your computer probably can't handle the game anymore.

    Also the drivers are still from 2008. Somehow the update didn't take. Since you had a driver fail message, maybe it didn't work correctly. Maybe completely reinstalling the drivers instead of updating will work better.
