Sims 3 won't Launch
Hi,
I really would like my game to work again. My Sims 3 Game will not launch when I press play origin gets minimized and then reappears. Nothing happens on task manager.
I've been through many forum posts at this point and have tried everything that has been thrown at me from support. No errors show, I've never merged accounts, I don't have any antivirus software blocking the app
I have tried:
Clearing caches on Origin
Uninstalling & Reinstalling Origin
Uninstalling & Reinstalling my game
Repairing the game
Rebooting my PC
Running CCleaner
Installing DirectX9
Running as Admin
Closing Background tasks
Uninstalling & Reinstalling .NET 3.5
Deleting Sims files in the Documents folder
Updating my drivers and then when that didn't work I tried reverting them to a previous time in November as suggested in a previous post
Trying to launch the game from Program files
I have also attached my Dxdiag
I don't know what to do as I do not want to repurchase my games again but feel as if that's my only option.
Any other help is very much appreciated ♡
@sweethxxrt When you installed DirectX 9, did you make sure to manually run the installer? Sometimes it downloads but doesn't install. Since the errors in your dxdiag, including the most recent one, strongly suggest a DX9 issue, please install it this way:
If that doesn't help, please manually uninstall and reinstall Origin with Revo Uninstaller, which is more thorough than EA's instructions:
- Quit Origin, then right-click on the Task Bar and open the Task Manager. Scroll through looking for Origin entries. If you find any, click on them and End Task.
- Clear Origin's cache, again.
- Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
- Launch Revo, select Origin from the list, and click Uninstall.
- When it finishes uninstalling, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
- If Revo finds any remaining registry entries, select all, delete, and click Next.
- Revo will display "Remaining Data and Folders." Select all of them except for the "Origin Games" folder, if it appears. (This is where Origin games are installed by default.) Delete the rest.
- Close Revo, and restart your computer.
Next, download the full Origin installer and run it. Here's the direct download link:

Be sure to run both the installer and Origin itself as an admin: right-click on each and select "Run as Administrator."
