Sims 3 won't open 32-bit or 64-bit

hi there, i’m having issues with my sims 3 game and i swear i’ve read all of your threads regarding this game and it’s come to no avail. i bought the game, downloaded it along with the late night and high end loft stuff packs that come along with it for 32 bit. it wouldn’t even open the launcher, just said “unknown error” when i tried to open the game. i uninstalled and reinstalled so many times, tried deleting the add ons, downloading 32 bit without the add ons, tried downloading 64 bit with and without the add ons which did allow me to open the launcher but still had an error. when i try to open the game now through the launcher it brings up a problem report with a bunch of random script and says sims 3 quit unexpectedly. i tried some solutions you suggested like turning off origin in game and launching the game without wifi but nothing is working. i’m about ready to just contact EA and ask for a refund, if you have any input i would truly appreciate it. i’ve included a picture of the script that pops up when i try to launch the game

  • @v3nu5bb  I've split your post into its own thread since your issue is different than the one covered in the other thread.  (That's really just for custom content and content bought on the Sims 3 Store site.)

Please uninstall both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions from your computer.  It's easy to uninstall 64-bit: just let Origin do the work.  The process for 32-bit is more complicated:

While you're at it, do a clean uninstall and reinstall of Origin as well.  It's probably not necessary, but doing this now is a little simpler because there are no Sims 3-related files to preserve.

Reinstall Origin, then download whichever version of Sims 3 you'd like to play.  The 64-bit version is easier to get running, and it doesn't have the 2 GB RAM limit of the 32-bit version, but 32-bit doesn't have a number of bugs that 64-bit does.  So it's your choice.  If you do want to install 32-bit, please start with the base game only, no packs, and run the Super Patch (digital download version) afterwards:

In either case, let me know whether the game works.  If it doesn't, please post the full specs of your Mac: everything under About This Mac except for the serial number.

hi there! thank you for the advice, i was able to launch and play the sims. although i tried downloading the expansion packs that come with the starter pack and after the launcher said unknown error again. i tried uninstalling the expansions and it didn’t make the error stop, so i’m going to have to clean uninstall and reinstall the base game again. i’ve attached my mac specs too if that helps. thank you 🙂
