Stuck in Create a Sim/Create a Household loading screen.

I have been trying for a few days now to create a new house hold, and I use to be able to do it just fine. But lately, every time I try to go to 'Create a Household' my game will just sit on it's loading screen for hours and not let me create a family. I've tried letting it sit for a few hours to see if it would eventually load so I could make a family, but it never does. I have the game downloaded on a Acer laptop, I don't know if that plays any role to the problem or not.
