switching households

in any town we play  in we can always either start the game by choosing one of the households already in the town or after playing with our own sim family in the town we can  switch to a different household to play but we loose control over the active family as the story progression takes over and if you switch back to your first family things may have changed there you can even move your families in an out of towns like this there's two ways you can do this either go to the edit town click on your lot and save a copy of your family to the library  then start a new game in any world  and place that copy of the family from the library to the new game or  have a sim use the phone or computer option -real estate and travel-chose travel-option move then you have two options  within this neighborhood that'll be a new house un the same town  or new town/neighborhood choose new town you then can choose from the menu which town to move to from the worlds you have and who moves with you the game will then take you through the process of moving and even after doing those moves you can still go to edit town and switch to another household

thanks for you reply but like for example, If i leave my sim couple and 2 of their 3 grown children in their original town and move the 3rd son into say bridgeport, would i be able to switch back and forth between his house and my original family of sims house?

technically yes and no because if you move him out to Bridgeport on his own the family ties will be gone and he'll be a solo sim   it'll be like starting a new game  they way to do that is save the game as it is to keep the family together  then do a save as new name then if you wish move him out to  Bridgeport and the process is complete once the move is complete then save the game again with the save as new name , then once your done when you save and quit the game when you re launch the game to play where you pick your game to play your old save will be in the menu ( where the family is all together )  and the new save in Bridgeport where the son is  that way you can switch between games to play with either family
