The new EA Desktop App refuses to load my Sims 3 game..

Thanks for the reply @puzzlezaddict. Yes, luckily Origin works fine with my older games. So glad I was able to roll back to it.

If you get an error when trying to install or run Origin, restart your computer, or open the Task Manager and kill the EABackgroundProcess.exe.

Hi, I'm having this same issue but I just got a new laptop and am having downloading origin. It keeps telling me the internet is not connected when it is. I'm not sure what to do at this point

@KaraRose24601  What happens when you try to launch Sims 3 through the EA App?  Please let me know, and also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

So I was able to get origin downloaded. The same thing happens with the sims 3 on both origin and the EA app. It launches but then it minimizes itself and when I click on it again it opens for a sec to a black screen and minimizes again. I'm not getting an error code or anything since it is technically running

@KaraRose24601  Try forcing the game to launch in windowed mode.  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, open options.ini (Notepad is fine), search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).  Then try again to play.

If that doesn't help, and you've added any mods or custom content at all, please move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents and onto your desktop, then test again.  Doing this will reset the options.ini file, so please reapply the above edit if the game still doesn't load.

It's working now in windowed mode! So does this mean I just won't be able to play in fullscreen ?

@KaraRose24601  You can try setting the game back to fullscreen and to your laptop's native resolution (1920x1080) in the game's graphics options.  It might be fine—some people report that launching in windowed was only necessary the first time.

But if you do find that fullscreen continues to cause problems, you could use an app called Windowed Borderless Gaming (by Westech) to get the fullscreen look with the features of windowed mode.  This app has worked well with Sims 3 for years.
