The Sims 3 > Incomplete Installation ("launcher has stopped working", etc) Help Needed (FIVE days and no response? Really?)

Has anyone come up with a new solution to the Sims 3 installation issue yet? Here is what happened to me: 1. Downloaded the Sims 3 from Origin 2. Pressed install 3. Chose my country from the launc...

    I solved the problem myself, actually. It's a simple matter of putting the d3dx9_31.dll file into the sims _Installer folder.

    You can get the file all over the internet. I don't know why this isn't in documentation or standard help yet, they said that they would do it so this issue doesn't happen to others.

I'm getting not a little disappointed that no one, from EA or just a customer, has offered any suggestions as to what could be happening here or how to fix it.

Five days, no response...wow.

Updated 18 system drivers, recleaned the registry, reinstalled origin...still nothing.
