HelloI have tried everything, i have scoured the internet, these forums included, and nothing has helped meI can not launch the sims 3 I can open the launcher but when I press the play button, the game instantly crashes/doesn't openI have downloaded the base game 64 bit version from origin and have not yet downloaded any packsI have repaired the game, reset the documents/electronic arts/the sims 3 folder countless times, deleted version.tag, deleted cache files, edited options.ini to launch the game in windowed mode, turned off origin in-game, run origin and my computer offlineNothing worksI have downloaded and played the game before on this mac and it worked fine (well as fine as you can expect from ts3) but I eventually uninstalled it for spaceI used the bluebellflora clean install guide as well (although its outdated) and yet every time since when I've reinstalled it, it refuses to launchI have reinstalled origin multiple times as wellI am on MacOS Big Sur 11.2.3 I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch,2020)Processor 1.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5Memory 8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3Graphics intel iris plus graphics 645 1536 MB

@Gegahex Bluebellflora's guide to a clean uninstall isn't outdated; it's for the 32-bit version of Sims 3. Anyway, please uninstall the game through Origin (right-click, Uninstall), then do a clean uninstall of Origin itself: https://bluebellflora.com/how-to-uninstall-origin-on-a-mac/ Create a a new admin user account on your Mac, and don't import any settings or sync with any of your existing accounts, including iCloud. Download a fresh copy of Origin in that user account, install Sims 3, and see whether you can play. If not, please let me know whether you're using a third-party antivirus or a cleaner app.

What are the icons in the top right corner of the menu bar?In System Preferences > Users & Groups what do you have set to open automatically at login?I notice you have OpenEmu and Crossover installed. When you created the new user account on your Mac did you also allow all those apps access in System Preferences? The new user account needs to be as clean as possible to avoid any conflicting between apps and processes.Could you start up in safe mode - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mh21245/mac then close down and start up normally again.

@Gegahex Thanks. And you've attempted to launch the game in the new user account? That should prompt the dialogue window to ask for permission to access the Documents folder.Still in the new account, can you open Activity Monitor, make sure you're on the memory tab and post a screenshot of the bottom bit showing physical memory/memory used/cached files.Then, in Activity Monitor, click on the CPU tab then go to File > Print and Save as PDF. Please attach the PDF to your post here or, if you prefer, PM it to me 🙂

Yes I have attempted to launch the game in the new user account and it has access to the documents folder

@Gegahex No, it isn't, weird! Can you try again? Scroll down to the bottom and give it a minute to populate icons and info before PDF-ing. If the game has access to the Docs folder that isn't showing in the previous screenshot. I don't have TS3 installed on this Mac but if I did it would show the same as TS4 after granting access:

@Gegahex I asked a couple of knowledgeable people for their thoughts on this thread. One note is about the info listed in your crash log: it states that the library running Sims 3 found a serious error and crashed the program, but it doesn't say why. (This is typical of crash logs.) So figuring out the why still requires some experimentation.

Please list the install location of the Sims 3.app, as in, is it in Applications, Users > your username > Applications, or somewhere else? Please also go back to Security & Privacy > Privacy, where you found the Full Disk Access settings, and open the Files and Folders settings in the same location. Check all the boxes for both Origin and Sims 3, restart your computer, and test.

Also, please let me know whether Origin or Sims 3 is listed in the Accessibility settings in the same location. I'm not sure whether it matters, but it was mentioned in the conversation, so it's worth checking.

Macintosh HD > Users > insert my user here > Applications > TheSims3.app is the path
Couldnt check any boxes in files and folders because of the full disk access
And it wasn't listed in the accessibility settings, origin was though

@Gegahex Try unchecking the Full Disk Access boxes and then manually checking everything under Files and Folders. It's possible that the settings don't quite cover everything, even though they should.

@Gegahex Just checking, but did you click the lock to enable changes? If so, please restart your computer and look again, to be thorough.

Edit: It would also be helpful to see the window with the Files and Folders settings showing. Hover your cursor over the window, click cmd-shift-5, and it'll take a screenshot of the entire window.

I did the safe mode thing
I have nothing that automatically starts at login on the new account, on the normal one just chrome
Nothing else is running in the background when I try to play the game
