Hey! I've been having this problem ever since having to switch to the EA app from Origin. I've seen a few other people on different forums having similar issues but the solutions presented haven't worked for me. I've tried downloading from different browsers (Firefox, Safari, Edge, Chrome), repairing the game from the EA App, starting a clean Sims 3 folder and trying to download after that, even uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I keep getting the same error message when I try to download anything (Download Failed: There was an error downloading content {0}). I've also tried downloading content after loading the game and accessing the store through my account in-game, but every time I log in at the main menu I get logged out once I actually load a save file. I've also tried from the main menu and I get the same error message. Since I'm on Mac I tried it from a different admin account and the same thing happened. I never had any issues when I was using Origin, this only started once I had to use the EA app so I'm thinking it must have something to do with that. What's kind of weird is that my installed worlds aren't showing up when I want to start a new game, but the saves I already had that were in those worlds are fine and I'm able to access them. Store content isn't showing up at all except for the indulgent bakery lot. Not sure if I'm a lost cause with this but figured it was worth a shot to ask!
