The Sims 3 Mac Error Downloading Content

I have been having issues with the EA App since Mac users had to update to the new app. I cannot download any store content to my Sims 3 Launcher. It keeps popping up with 'There was an error Downloading Content {0}'. I have talked to the EA support team and they don't know why my game is doing this and told me to come to the forums. Is there a solution to this? I miss playing my game with all the things that I purchased. I have included an image.

@nessatay2223 (and everyone else in this thread)  I've flagged this issue to EA but don't know of anything else to suggest at the moment.  It's clearly not universal, which probably makes the issue more difficult to resolve.  Hopefully there will be some news soon.

  • Hello! I have been trying to figure out how to install store content on my Macbook Air for hours now. Whenever I log into the sims 3 store and hit download, the launcher pops up and I get an error that says, "Download Failed: There was an error downloading content {0}. I also can never click on the downloads button because my launcher crashes every single time. I am running the 64-bit version of this game, so I do not understand why I can't install any of my store content in my game. I have tried downloading my store content while in CAS and I still have no luck. Can someone please help if anyone knows what's going on? Is this a user error by me or is this a Sims issue?

b99a77017090a370  This is a known issue with the 64-bit Mac version, and sometimes there's no fix.  (It's been reported to EA, but I don't have any information beyond that.)  But sometimes there is a fix, or a workaround, so it's worth doing a little troubleshooting first.

Please move the Sims 3 user folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  Clear the EA App's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

and repair the game (EA App > Sims 3 > Manage > Repair).  Then open the launcher to create a new user folder and try to download one item.  Keep in mind that moving your old user folder will have removed, but not deleted, your saves and other data, but you can put that back later.

If that doesn't help, please create a new admin user account on your Mac.  Don't link it to your Apple ID.  Clear the App's cache and repair the game again, then try to download one Store item.

I tried both of those things and unfortunately they did not work. I did exactly what you said for both options to try and clear this issue. I wish that this wasn't an issue for this version of the game! I know it's not your fault.

The weird thing is that I can see the store content in my downloads folder, however I'm never able to actually install them into the game.

My game hasn’t been letting me download anything from the sims 3 store. I had to get my email updated on the account and i did that. I can’t sign into the sims 3 launcher without it going blank or saying invalid while in game. I made sure my password didn’t have any special characters, I have tried removing the old email from the downloads file. I have tried moving the files to the desktop , I have repaired the game , i have uninstalled the game., i have also cleared out the cache.

What else more is there for me to do for this issue?

    Btw I am on mac.

kyeballer22  Please open Keychain Access, in Applications > Utilities.  Search for sims3 and delete any entries you see.  If you have a new Sims 3 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts, move or rename it.  Then try to sign into the Store site and see whether you can download any content.  Don't sign into the launcher.

If you can't download the Store content, please post a screenshot of what happens when you try.

I have been having the same issue ever since the sims 3 was transferred from origin to the EA app. Have you found a solution?

  • I’ve come with a strange update after all this time.

it seems I can add and play .package files with no issue, mods and CC alike. However, when it comes to sims 3 store items I still get “there was an error downloading content {0}”

The other thing is when I try to add .sims3 files to my downloads folder and I open the launcher to download them, hitting the download button crashes the launcher. Previously it would let me attempt to download them but say “fatal error.” This is still frustrating but it is some sort of an update.
