The Sims 3 problems

Hi,

I'm trying to download stuff from the exchange but its not working. When I download it it says I need to update my game but everything is up to date. Also, when I load the game launcher it says that there is and error etc. and that I have a problem and it gives me a link. So I went onto google and looked up the link, and it said that i need to check to make sure jva etc. is up to date. But it already is. So I don't know what to do because I have 6 expansion packs and 1 stuff pack but my sims still all look the same and sims is starting to get boring because there is no diversity between sims. I used to play all the time (every day for hours) but now sims isn't fun. HELP ME!
