I don't know whether the "some rando's thing" you're referencing is the Alder Lake patch from Lazy Duchess, but if you do have one of the affected processors and the patch didn't help, make sure you're applying it to the correct .exe: TS3.exe for an EA App install; TS3W.exe, with the W, for a disc or Steam install. If that still doesn't help, try one of the other methods listed in that thread.
If you don't have an affected CPU, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
