Unable to connect to Origin?

I hadn't played Sims in a LONG time, several months actually, but two weeks ago I started playing again. I realized that the Riverview town wasn't downloaded yet on the computer I'm using, so I went to download it. It worked, but when I tried to install it it said it required an update. I went to check if I needed a game update, and when I hit refresh "Unable to connect to Origin" popped up. My game is playable how it is, but I'd really like to update it and have Riverview in there as well. Please help, thank you.
