Unable to move families in to homes - So can't play the Sims

Question

The game worked fine at first but after I downloaded Ambitions (my 5th expansion), it doesn't work right. I had issues with aging being turned off (though it didn't show so in the options) and sims bodies disappearing.

Anyways, here's what happens step by step:
1. I create a family.
2. I go to move them in, and I click on a lot. (I've tried several different lots & existing families as well as moving to new towns and same problem occurs)
3. When I go to hit the accept button to start playing my family, the screen doesn't change at all. It just sits there with the back button and the accept button grayed out. I can move around so the screen isn't really frozen, I'm just unable to complete the "moving in" part.

I'm able to go back to the menu where you can choose "create a family" "move in family" or "choose household" by going to options and clicking "edit town" and then clicking on "return to game setup".
When I choose "create a family" and try to make a new family, when it's time to move them in the same thing happens.
When I choose "move in family" and try to move in a family whether it's pre-made by ea or one that I've created, same thing happens.
When I choose "choose household" the same thing happens.

I've just re-installed the game so I have no current families to play because I can't move any in or find any premade families that I'm allowed to play without moving them in first.

I've asked the community managers the question and they gave me this answer:

- Can't pick household, checkmark is grey (melynir,&nbsp;MelissaSh,&nbsp;magiccookie,&nbsp;trekkie78,&nbsp;cyrynpen)&nbsp;--&gt; Try deleting tmp files in DCCache and starting game bypassing the launcher&nbsp;--&gt; Try factory reset on first page.&nbsp;

For DCCache - it's a folder in your sims 3 file.

I've spent over 4 hours with what passes for the "live chat" help...their English is sometimes difficult to understand what they want done...but still have same problem...So, they told me I need to speak to a human....but he sent me to a link that does nothing with actually getting to speak to someone on the hone....

I need help with an actual in-game play on the Sims 3

Any help....because as of right now, I want my money back because I literally can't play the games that I've spent a butt-ton of money on
