unable to run the 64bit metal sims 3 on Mac mini M1

Hi, finally, I gave up opening the window version of the sims 3 on Crossover. I and my spouse tried everything but couldn't make it work. So now I definitely moved to Mac side as bootcamp is not allowed on this Mac mini. At the beginning, it worked well yesterday. I started to move my saved game into Mac sims 3. Suddenly, the launcher keeps going back to Origin after clicking 'Play' button on launcher. I tried repair game in Origin. After that, the launcher crashes after clicking the play button. I forced quit the launcher, then re run the origin. After that, launcher keeps going back to Origin every time I click on Play button on launcher. I can deal this issue if I was playing it on Windows but I actually don't know what to do on Mac. I googled and found only PC case.

I moved DCCache, DCBackup and Installed Worlds folder to the newly created sims 3 folder. The issue started with this. I deleted The Sims 3 folder entirely, and created a new sims 3 folder after running the launcher. But the issue was still there even though there are only default folders and files in the new sims 3 folder. I repaired the sims 3 in Origin but no luck. I deleted this sims 3 folder again, and created a new one but still no luck. I even haven't moved my saved game yet. Should I give up the sims 3 entirely?

  • @aodoherty  A lot of the troubleshooting is either the same in both OSs or has the same underlying concept.  The clean user folder is still the place to start: let the game create a new Sims 3 folder, see if the game works with no added content, add back your stuff a little at a time, etc.

If you can't play even in a clean user folder, please make sure iCloud isn't set to automatically sync the contents of Documents.  This guide is for a different issue, but the relevant settings are the same:

@aodoherty  Hey, no complaints, especially given how finicky Sims 3 can be.  And Merry Christmas to you too.  It's a few more minutes before we officially hit the 25th, but close enough.

@puzzlezaddictI found there's no Mac version of EA desktop yet. And I decided to give up to play the sims 3 on Mac mini. Luckily, I got this Mac mini as a Christmas present. So I still have option to do.

Play the sims 3 on previous I Mac but actually the graphics card is pretty old, and play the sims 4 on this Mac mini. There's no problem to play the sims 4 on this machine.
Getting my new own PC instead of Mac for the new year present myself. I can get only hardware. I have a monitor. I still have your pc advice tip and it will be great help to buy a new one. 🙂

The 3rd option is just going to say bye bye to the sims 3 until EA makes a new patch it can be work without intel base and play the sims 4.

My husband said that the sims 3 works on only Intel base but this Mac mini doesn't have intel. He tried parallel and crossover all but he couldn't make it work. Thank you for caring my issue. 🙂 I always appreciate you.
