Update patch 1.66

So I updated to 1.66, and now my game is all kinds of screwy.  It goes through the initial load screen, but when it should come time for me to begin my game, it shuts down.  I had some success last night by removing my CC, opening the program, and then before I started my game, added my CC back in; it worked, I was happy.  Today, not so much; tried my little trick again and it was a no-go.  Someone told me that it's because I didn't remove my CC before the update, but that's never been an issue before so why would it be now?  Is there any way to fix it?  Otherwise, I'm going to be seriously steamed at EA and they will get an earful from me until I'm reimbursed for every cent that I've spent on this game.
