water texture problem

Some cc worlds seem to have an extra layer of water texture, it looks really griddy and continous. Boroughsburg, alpine meadows caused this. It appears in every world.  But this sort of mod doesnt only mess with water but texture in general and the grid for placing lots gets covered by it. Deinstalling the worlds doesnt change anything. A friend of mine fixed it once but remembers nothing. I think he messed with some texture text? Heres a pic, maybe you have seen this before. Thank you.

  • @TeresaPilch2002  It's hard to tell exactly what's going on in your screenshot.  Could you take a pic in better lighting?  There are plenty of graphics glitches in the Sims 3, but I'm not sure I've seen exactly this one.  (I can ask around.)

In the meantime, what happens if you remove your options.ini file, as well as the five cache files in your game folder in Documents?  (for reference: CASPartCache, compositorCache, scriptCache, simCompositorCache, and socialCache)  The cache files should be deleted on a regular basis anyway.  Removing options.ini will reset all your graphics and game options, but this is just for testing; you can put it back later if you want.

Since you mentioned texture, I'd like to see the first part of your deviceconfig file, also in your game folder.  You can stop when you reach the list of game options; I'm only interested in everything up to the part about texture memory, about 40 lines down.  Just copy the text into a response.  Your machine and usernames are about 25 lines down, so delete those if you want, but there is no other identifying information in that file.

I do know that some cc worlds are too large to play properly, as they demand more in resources than the game engine can provide.  Alpine County is one; I don't know if Alpine Meadows is a distinct world or just a different name for the same file.  I'm not as familiar with Boroughsburg.  But if some cc worlds are causing problems, you can just avoid them and download others instead.

@TeresaPilch2002  I actually mean the part before that, up until you see the ===Options === line.  It's around 40 lines from the beginning of the file until that line, and I'd like to see all that.

  • so this fixed the issue and its beautiful again, i dont remember it being cut off but i could be wrong

    thank you<3
