What many don't know is that this also affects other things. Windows XP was primarily 32 bit. Before anyone emails me - yes there was a 64 bit Windows XP but there was poor driver support and never took hold. With the death of Windows XP is also the death of DX 9. With Vista being the low end propduct that means DX 11 (Vista shipped with DX 10 but a Vista SP2 pack update pushed it to DX 11) DX 10 will be the low end (actually DX 10.1 with Vista SP2). Eventually Microsoft will drop support for 32 bit processors. Ubuntu server recently released its server version 14.04 as 64 bit only (the beginning of a trend?). Rumor - Windows 9 will be 64 bit only (I heard the same rumor for Windows 8)? What does this all mean?
If you have a 32 bit processor running Windows XP start shopping for a new computer - now!
If you have a DX 9 video card, this would be a good time to upgrade - Just like Windows XP, it will continue to work but not as well.
Games are going to be released with new higher minimum hardware requirements - if you are hoping TS4 will run better then TS3 on your present computer that is having trouble with TS3, you may get disappointed. I think there will be a new (higher) minimum requirement.
I have windows 8 directx11 64 bit and I have not seen any windows 8 or 8.1 with 32 bit
In speaking to EA I did get a little info on Sims 4 from a CS rep. This person knew too much about a lot of things and maybe I got lucky and got a higher up at EA. They calim it will be more computer friendly that the sims 3. It sounds more like TS2 play to a degree and it would be in EA's best intrest to make this new game to be compatable with a varity of computers. I was also told it is being made on windows 8. (maybe 8.1 as well) Being made on the newest computers available

My ASUS eee pc is running Windows 8.1 32 bit. Hmmm - the Intel Processor Atom N450 has a 64 bit instruction set. I had 32 bit Win 7 on it and just upgraded it to Win 8.1 32 bit. Have to think about this.

Being that I got some inside general info about Sims 4 and they told me it should work on a varitty of new computers maybe 32 bit will work since the new computers are still being made with 32 bit. Wait until they release the specs. Then worry if 32 bit won't work

As there are many 32 bit computers in the world EA would not want to not eliminate those customers. Well Mozilla did a back pedal after it shut off the Nightly update channel and reactivated after much ruckus. Now that Brendan Eich is unemployed we might see a 64 bit Firefox. Although 3rd party support is small but growing I have been using Nightly for some time and it seems to work pretty good. Don't know why it isn't on the download page but it can be found. I also use the Pale Moon version but Nightly seems faster.
