- If it means the game will lag less, I'm happy.
- As long as there are no more so-called "Rabbit Holes", i may probably not even notice anyway. The Sims games were not exactly designed in a way to take full advantage of a Open-world environment to begin with, so having these large open maps in TS3 may have been the reason that such a large portion of the environments interior lacked rendering.
It's also not a good idea to assume that just because technology may have advanced to a certain point, does not necessarily mean that "everything is possible" Regardless of what Maxis may want to see in their games, they still have to stay within their "playable game size-budget" (whatever that may be.) - I actually like that it's not open world. I don't have time to play that much, and for me the big open worlds of Sims 3 were a little bit overwhelming... I found it hard to get into the game if you weren't able to spend hours and hours with it. Sims 4 looks more straight-forward and I have nothing against that.
Also, in Sims 3 I really dislike the long loading time before the playable lot is open, so I really much prefer (hopefully) shorter initial loading time and (hopefully) short loading times when moving between lots in the game. - I love the open world in Sims 3, I don't like the loading screens in Sims 2 and the only thing you can see is the lot that you are on.
- much as it was fun being able to drive / walk / run around the neighbourhood in TS3 it was hell on my graphics card so this might be a more laptop friendly game. Also I hate rabbit holes with a passion, really hoping that's the end of those.
- it doesn't bug me either. Maybe there will be less lag for many of us. We have to load screen to go to university, Future or world adventure anyway.
- bshag4lvSeasoned AdventurerI've been playing sims 2 since UC came out and I really don't mind the loading screens. They are pretty fast on my computer and also saving is super fast. Hopefully, S4 will be as fast.
I can't play S3 on my desktop as I uninstalled in a fit when the glitches finally got to me. But still have it installed on my laptop as it runs smoother than desktop. I still love the open world, CASt and my lil vampire and will play them in the future. I understand the need for the semi-open world and look forward to playing sims 4 without any lags or glitches. (Keeping fingers crossed.) Plus there's always cc, my friend. :D - I don't see that missing open world is a problem. Actually I think that game would run more smoothly than with open world. I have pretty good pc, but ts3 with all ep's&sp's and most of store content was a bit too much my pc. I've also managed to break 2 graphic cards with ts3 :cold_sweat: :D
- I really like the fact that there are no open worlds, counting that this gives a chance for more worlds to easily come into the game! You know how at the top you can switch between maps? Imagine that going all the way across with fun new town maps!
Honestly, the loading screens are shorter than traveling by car in the sims 3, (when of course you don't speed up time) which i find amazing. Plus- the loading screens are beautimous.
I just wish September would arrive faster! XD Can't wait! :D - I like very much the open world in the sims 3, but I think that caused a lot of glitches and bugs while I played. And loading/saving my game was sooo long! I think the loading screens between areas will help this issue, and they don't seems to be very long anyway. So, I prefer loading screens and areas instead of a crashing open world lol! :)
