I used to think liking the burglars was an unpopular opinion until I looked for mods of them. I ended up seeing how many simmers wanted them back. Then I wondered, “why did they even disappear in the first place? They’ve always been a part of the sims franchise!” Upon research, the burglars apparently triggered anxiety in some players. … Excuse me? DEATH triggers anxiety in ALL players, so why not remove that? It takes excitement away and makes the sims less of a life simulator. In that case, EA, please remove thunderstorms because I have a horrible phobia of thunder and lightning. It’s a little ridiculous... Yes, I sincerely do have an intense fear of thunder and lightning. Is EA now going to go and take thunderstorms away too because I expressed my common fear? No, it really did freak me out a lot when lightning blasted near my house. So, why not make an off setting like they have for thunderstorms? Who else misses burglars?

Based on comments made by the team in the past, the belief they aren't in the game because they caused anxiety is false. They said they just haven't added them yet, but that doesn't mean they won't at some point.I don't miss burglars because I have them in my game, thanks to Carl's Gameplay Overhaul mod. That said, I didn't really miss them before he added them to that mod. I find them rather annoying, pretty much on the same level as the Sharing is Caring NAP. But I do like beating them up when they show up due to Carl's mod...so that's a plus.

We have klepto sims and the sharing is caring NAP, don't think I would be very happy with burglars too. Maybe if they overhauled them and made different kinds of burglars, like in TS2 there was the charlatan that stole some money from you. I mean, in real life, no one steals an installed toilet unless it's made of gold, so maybe they could add burglars that steal different things but don't touch essential furniture items like toilets, sinks, chairs, etc. Like petty thieves that steal garden gnomes, bicycles, and chickens, art thieves that steal masterpieces, conartists or pickpokets that steal money, pickpokets could also steal small items in your inventory, industrial thieves that steal technology or recipes.

They were fun, but I can’t say I really need them. I do think the game needs a little more randomness, and the burglars definitely contributed to that. There were times, though, that I couldn’t figure out what they actually had stolen.

After my first burglar break-in, I suddenly remembered what we were missing...police! My sim fought him well but he stole her chess set anyway, and the chairs! From now on, my sims are going to be buffed out so no stinking burglar can take their stuff anymore. :D

BWAHAHA ? I’m sorry but I feel that, literally too. One time they stole my broken toilet, it was like the cheapest toilet too, and that’s all they decided to take. But yes, GENIUS ideas. They had this in The Sims 3 Pets for Nintendo 3Ds so that’s a throwback to my childhood.

People couldn't handle vampires. How are they going to handle burglers?
I'm still waiting for my vampires to be unnerfered.
They should make both of them them a lot challenge.
And vampires are actually better. They don't take precious items you have to replace. We need cops too.

I don't really miss them, but I would welcome them back if they had some interesting gameplay and are not like the kleptos. Maybe Sims can call the police and have them arrested, can get their stolen stuff back with house insurance, fight them or have pet dogs guard the door.

Burglars are really needed in Sims 4. the game is currently too predictable and burglars were something you needed to watch out for

If your Sim has high Fitness skill they can beat up the burglar and make them leave

That is false and has been confirmed to be false for years now.

They just haven't added them. It's as simple as that.

Thank you for your input, I was unaware of that. I’ve only ever seen articles backing the anxiety statement. Is it just their decision not to? Or do you know if there’s a different reason?

or even better i think it would be so cool if they refreshed get to work with active criminal career and chance to get your sims jailed if caught and then if you're like on burglar stage with sim theyd show up as burglar npc to your other sims and show up as criminals when playing detective sim

also if people don't want to get their stuff stolen it could always be lot challenge the way foxes are

Also, they can spawn at daylight, but the main cutoff is 7AM, which then the robbery rate is 0.5%.
