Individual Finances - spicy addition? added gameplay?
Hey simmers! What would you think about switching to a personal finances system?
Each sim has their own money. Just like in most modern families.
Why would this benefit the sims?
Goals. Storytelling. Drama.
First, this would allow for last wills and testament system. Sims would leave their money to the sims they leave behind proportional to their relationship with each sim = more incentive to deepen relationships with elders and other sims in general. Also can lesson the sting when a wealthy sim dies.
Second, the roommate dilemma. How do we know how much money Liberty should take with her when she moves to Oasis Springs? Why even advance Summer's career if Travis keeps raking in all this money and she has access to it? Does poor Travis have to foot all the bills because he makes more money? How will he ever afford to move into a room with a double bed?
Third, this system would make money managing more interesting when playing multiple sims and introduce opportunities for taking out loans, asking for money, and reducing the likelihood that slacker sims can just live the good life without continuously asking for money from friends or family, collecting items, or being somewhat creative with money = more interesting gameplay even if the household is rich. (Imagining how useful this will be when Don gets kicked out to live with the Landgraab as the pool boy and then gets kicked out again for screwing around with Nancy)
Anyways, I think that money is an underutilized tool for making gameplay in the sims 4 interesting. I want to know exactly which sims are succeeding in a given household and be able to have them move out with exactly what they deserve. Thoughts?
