How does everyone feel about how they incorporated archaeology into the new Sims 4 Jungle Adventure game pack? I don't mind that they receive artifacts in the mail to make money but I was hoping they would have added archaeology as a career that sims can choose from the career list. I think I just prefer when sims have a steady work schedule but let me know your thoughts. I was hoping it would be something similar to the painter career where you can make money selling your paintings but still have a job to go to throughout the week with goals you can complete at home. In the future, I'm hoping they would just add new careers to the career list they already have instead of making good career ideas seem more like hobbies. This is just my opinion though! I still love what they did with Jungle Adventure <3
That's a good point! I think having the career might make me more motivated to keep going to the jungle after my sims have completed their jungle adventure aspirations. If they've made it far enough in the career and there were requirements for promotion and stuff, then I'd probably keep doing that more, instead of like, "been there, done that," once the aspiration was completed. Tho I'm not sure on the logic of having to pay for a vacation in order to complete your work requirements. Maybe a perk from the job could be a discount on vacation rentals and/or jungle supplies? There's a mod that basically lets you SAY your sim is an archaeologist rather than unemployed, but they don't get paid anything and there aren't any work tasks or promotions or anything, so it might be cool to have a more complete archaeology career.
I'm always most interested in careers and aspirations for skills already included in packs and updates that don't really have anything yet. So I'd be most interested in:
a professional singing career, as well as maybe a playable DJ and dancing career (tho would probably want other forms of dance included for that one). At this point, singing and dancing are cute, but it doesn't really serve any purpose. And I've never had ANY sim do anything with the DJ skill, since there's no reason to.
wellness--playable yoga instructor or massage therapist careers would be nice to make the wellness skill something to work towards more.
herbalism has an aspiration already, but maybe an herbalist career would be cool to?
a veterinary career that doesn't require buying a vet hospital, and a pet training career (I think there's a mod for that one, but I haven't played it yet so I'm not sure how developed it is).
some sort of baking career to make baking not useless--we can already make cakes with the cooking skill, so that's another skill I've never used.
Photography! That's a big one for me! Photography is such a cool addition, but it's so under developed--we need a full photography career so it's more integrated into the game!
And lastly, a better reason to gain vampire lore if your sim isn't a vampire--yes, there's defense against vampire attacks, but that never really seems worth it and I never end up using it. So how about a vampire hunter career? That'd be pretty neat.
I'd also be happy with aspirations for any of these as well. I feel like a broken record, but I'm always saying, if there's a new skill introduced, it should ALWAYS come with at least an associated career OR aspiration, and preferably both. Otherwise, it's basically just decoration.
