In the mid-1700s, the Ottoman Empire opened Greece up to European tourists again, which led to the Greek Revival movement in architecture. With it came the ideals of Romanticism and this idea of bucolic Arcadia--the wild, peaceful countryside--being the Best Thing Ever. So yeah, you could say that the Romantics (Shelley, Byron, Coleridge, Keats, etc.) were the original hippies: thumbing their collective noses at conventional society. Basically, when I hear "back to nature", I think of classical Greece.
One innovation of the Romantic era was the "haha", a ditch used to separate pieces of land without the appearance of any manmade structures. I took this idea and sank the build into the ground, to get the same effect. From outside, the build looks like just three temple follies behind a hedge; but there's more once you get inside.

ENTRY DETAILS: Since my test-Sims Sparrow and Storm fell in love - I decided to add a waggon, but first things first... I found the old Windenbrug Island Station, a diamond in the rough. Secluded, abandoned and left to decay. So I restored the old Station building almost to it's former victorian glory and pieced together three waggons of the old Island Line, which are now the sleeping and hobby quarters for the six of them. They all are connected, whether through the old tracks or through the platform and they are a symbol for the constant spiritual journey this group of people is on. Enjoy the Happy Hippie Train!

ENTRY DETAILS: Thsi group of Sims wanted to disturb nature as little as possible, so when they found a natural clearing in the untamed forest of Newcrest, they chose to build there, cutting down only the trees they needed to and using that wood in their buildings. All four buildings were intended to blend into their surroundings as closely as possible. Their swimming pool is a natural pool, with only enough rocks and flowers cleared away to allow access. Only the flower garden was planned in order to keep the paths from being overgrown.

ENTRY DETAILS: So my idea for this build was to put the group out on the island in Windenburg. I love the idea of using shipping containers as home and felt the six would love the idea of reusing and recycling. I gave them the 3 shared living spaces. I imagined Essence and Lavendar as being a couple so they share a container with a double bed. I put Sparrow and Storm in the same container and then Sky and Raven in another. They each have one side of their shared containers decorated to suit them. I even put a little stove in Sky's side so he can do extra cooking experiments. There is a shared outdoor living area. A shower area to one side and then a small natural pool on the other. It's a perfect little Happy Hippy Hideaway.

ENTRY DETAILS: What I had in mind when building this was a place for sharing so I decided not to use any doors and only include only one toilet. When building it I was also thinking that there should be lots of color even if they didn't. I tried to create a lot where basically all rooms and areas can be used to hang out with other sims so basically they wouldn't have any moment for themselves, the only room closest to private would be bedrooms.

It started as an abandoned camp in the mountains. With a few splashes of paint, it is now the Far Out Hippie Haven, home to a group of hippie couples. Each cabin has been converted to a righteous place for the couples to spend their time. The Purple Haze cabin is decorated in shades of purple with a peace symbol on the side of the building. Raven, a budding artist and Sky, the haven's cook share this psychedelic cabin. Next, is the Feelin' Groovy cabin decorated in shades of green and on the side of the building is a heart symbol. Lavender and Essence, both political activists share this tranquil cabin. Lavender has a small writing area with computer, where she writes a column for the local paper, and Essence, a guitarist, conducts peace rallies and writes songs of peace and love. The Mellow Yellow cabin is so full of energy and life, decorated in yellow with colorful sunflowers swaying outside and a happy face adorning one wall. Sparrow, an avid collector and Storm, the haven's gardener share this space. An addition was added to the back of this cabin to display all of Sparrow's collections. And, yes, she even has a space rock! The main cabin, Right On, has two levels. The main level has a kitchen, small eating area, an outdoor bar, and a food pantry. On the upper level is the open air living room, where Essence loves to strum some tunes on his guitar. A great gathering place to star gaze and dance to the beat. There are extra picnic tables for eating at the back of the lot, close to the waterfall/swimming area. There is also a lovely outdoor bathing area and outhouse. The camp is eco-friendly. All cabins have been outfitted with rooftop gardens, solar panels and rain water barrels. Storm is proud of his small garden which boasts a compost area. There is also a hand washing laundry area. The hippies can occupy themselves with many activities, from playing chess, swimming, painting, playing guitar, reading, yoga, dancing, and just chatting around a campfire. A colorful commune with an explosion of flower power, the Far Out Hippie Haven is the perfect place for peace and love. Can you dig it?

ENTRY DETAILS: Hippies made a huge change in our world; some bizarre yet absolutely needed. I don't know much about hippies and their time era outside of what I've seen as a little girl and what I've read and or heard. My older sisters were hippies and I seen some things. So basically I made Happy Hippy Hollow because I believe they were all happy and pledged for world peace and unity. I had to rush on my photos because the deadline is tonight.. I wanted to enter and I know my photos aren't absolute... so I am sorry in advance.. and if it hinders my entry; it's ok because I know my photos are suppose to be better.. I just didn't want to miss out on this challenge.

Essence and Lavendar are two love birds who have shared their life theories with others and now have a little group of friends that have adopted their outlook on life. Sparrow is a bit of a shy loner and loves to spend time with her collection. Sky reads a lot of cook books and uses what he learns to make his own vegetarian dishes. Raven sees art in everything and loves colors. Storm has begun looking at how to graft seeds and hopes to find a way to create new plants. A colorful bunch who just love nature and life!

ENTRY DETAILS: Sky gives his “old lady” lots of space in their Yurt for her painting. He thinks she is the grooviest artist since Andy Warhol. Sky loves to be in the kitchen and he is totally stoked to create new dishes using all the fresh fruits and veggies that Storm grows in their organic garden. Storm is a very quiet person who loves tending the garden and the animals. He gives his sweet chick, Lavender, lots of head room to work on her book “Memoires of the Road” that details her escapades when she toured with Sly and The Family Stone. Essence dreams of touring with a band and spends many hours building and playing guitars. His wife Sparrow has a tiny issue with hording .. I mean collecting. So far these 6 have lived and loved life in their off the grid yurt homes.

In the Age of Aquarius there was LOVE for man, woman & nature! A recent hurricane destroyed the Von Windenburg Estate. Due to their abundance of wealth, the Von Windenburgs decided to move on to a larger and more metropolitan area where such weather is scarce. The Groovy Gang of six eclectic personalities found this to be the Perfect Storm for their needs. After consulting with them it was decided that this private location and coastal atmosphere would be the ideal place for their commune of Peace & Love! Simple construction allowed the commune to take shape quickly. Using the debris left by the hurricane, a rustic boardwalk was added to access the main living areas. Since there wasn't much dough for building materials, the group used brightly colored paint to liven up the tin roofing, porches and railings. There is a quiet fishing dock adjacent to a picnic/recreation area. In addition, the group enjoys the walking/bike path that surrounds their new home. All the windows have some sort of shutters that can quickly be closed in case of another unexpected storm. There is limited electricity so this group relies mostly on lantern light and grilling for their simple life! This Groovy Gang now enjoys living away from the city and the restrictions of metropolitan life!
Enjoy this commune of PEACE & LOVE where your sims will enjoy their own personal space while sharing in community cooking, dining, gardening, skills & recreation. Artist Treehouse! Writer's, Musician's cabins with a special Collectors Shack!

ENTRY DETAILS: I wanted to build a modern commune, inspired by Scandinavian architecture and zero houses. For the interiors I wanted the vibe of having the home furnished with items picked up at various yard sales and flea markets. They also got a tiny pond to swim in, an outdoor bath area with and outdoor tub and a big bush, a bubble blower, a large gardening area with various herbs, fruit and vegetables. Each couple have their own separate bedroom, linked to the main building with glass ceilings, so that you can walk to the communal areas and stay dry even on rainy days.

ENTRY DETAILS: I was inspired by the tranquil atmosphere of an ashram and wanted to combine it with the hippie invasion of these in the 60s/70s. Well it ended up in that organic form and I tried to use as less electronic equipment as possible. they are powered with the solar panel on the roof. Enjoy (everything is play tested and works well although some things are very close to each other)

The brief said – Build a hippie commune. So I did.
Layout: On this lot, the buildings are placed in two clusters. On one side you’ll find the sleeping quarters – three separate rooms built in a row house style. The sleeping quarters have a slight wagon-y feel to them. On the other side of the lot, you’ll find the communal area – kitchen, dining and bathroom facilities. Also there’s a semi outdoors dining room with a fireplace. The kitchen includes an add-on building, where there’s a study/writing nook. If you go through the semi outdoor dining area, you enter the patio and pool area overlooking the ocean. Out here, you’ll find the must-have bubble blower, seating area and a sauna. On the side of the patio, there’s a clothes line and washing tubs – no expensive washer/dryer in this commune! The two clusters of buildings are connected via the beautiful courtyard with fire, seating, bbq, painting arbor and a small vegetable patch garden.

My idea for this build was to use shipping containers (I see I wasn't the only one, LoL) to create the main buildings and then furnish them with "salvaged" old furniture, appliances and fixtures. There are two common buildings - the kitchen/living area and a bath house. Each couple (well, two couples, I made Sky and Storm brothers) has their own cabin. What drew them to this lot was the large lake that runs from west to south across the property. There's plenty of fishing as well as a swimming hole. Raven has helped beautify the buildings with her artwork, and there are places for each of the 6 to build their individual skills. See the imgur slideshow for more details.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself, and your family if appropriate, and why you are applying to The Hawthorne Project.

Dear Hawthorne People,

My Name is Hermey and I come from a long line of factory workers from up North, way up North. Everyone in my family is expected to start work in the factory immediately upon reaching adulthood, and sometimes before. Nothing's changed for many, many generations. It's always cold. The pay is horrible. Almost all the food we eat has to be shipped in, so we exist on things baked from dry goods and reindeer milk. Seriously! We are basically indentured servants working for "The Man" (although the benefits package is pretty good). We're told over and over how grateful we should be for what we have. It's like we're constantly being brainwashed. I've always been different, been ostracized. I always hated the cold and the factory and the whole monotonous, unchanging lifestyle. So I finally decided to follow my dream and head to parts South. Instead of being supportive, my family has cut me off until "I come to my senses". I need help. I basically have a choice to either go back to where I'm utterly miserable and live a life of mindless, senseless conformity or stay and spend all my time doing performance art on people's shelves just to stay out of the rain. And that's only a seasonal job anyway.


Tell us about your ideal home space:
I dream at night of warm weather, of palm trees or trees with leaves instead of needles or fruit trees, of fresh vegetables, green grass and lanais. Oooh lanais. I can't even say the word without my eyes tearing up! I'm open to anything sunny and bright but almost pass out from joy at the thought of cocktails by a pool. Only request is to please stay clear of red and green. I hate red and green. Maybe it could have a study so I can finally pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a dentist!

It has a outdoor swimming pool which has outstanding seaviews, Hermey can relax here whilst enjoying a cocktail or two. Inside it has a large living room where Hermey can catch up on his favourite TV shows, play chess or practice his guitar skills. The study comes complete with a computer and bookcase and there is even room for his running machine. He has a comfortable bedroom decorated in sunny shades of yellow and the kitchen comes complete with a dining area.

  ENTRY DETAILS: To me it sounds like Hermey is very tired of toy making, his lifelong job, red and green uniforms as well as living in the icy cold year-round weather. So I decided to not include anything at all which would remind him of that past misery. I have built him a home which is pleasantly breezy right along the sandy coastline (in walking distance) of the beach. He can step out onto his huge patio and gaze at the ocean or go for a quiet enlightening walk and maybe even start collecting seashells or starfish. I tried to give him a home where he can view the beautiful scenery from all angles while painting; playing music; studying for his future or even as he is sleeping. He will always awake into a very real wonderland and never have to daydream again.

  ENTRY DETAILS: I placed Hermey in the hot desert of Oasis Springs - the total opposite of what he is used to, because the climate is very suitable for outside living and the yeararound use for his new... tada: lanai, where he can enjoy a cool drink. The house is a friendly mixture of modern and a colorful mission. The aquatic blue is a cool contrast to the browns and beiges of the desert and the lush green garden with the lap pool gives him both: a refreshing cool off from the daily heat and excercise as well.

  Thank you so much for giving me the chance to design you new home! I can totally understand that you choose to go somewhere warmer. Unfortunately, the budget you gave me was very low. But I do think the tiny home I created will suit you well. Since you want to enjoy the wonderful Sim eternal- summer, I spent only a basic sum of money on the two small rooms. Bedroom and kitchen are two –in-one and the bathroom is tiny. However you will find all your needs taken care of. I decided to use a wonderful bright yellow for the living room. You will find a tiny friendly hamster to keep you company. While I did add some decorations, I would suggest you start learning to paint, so that you can give a nice personal touch to the walls.
  Now to the outside. While indoors is quite minimalistic, your garden will hopefully make you very happy. Not only is there a terrace with a bbq, an easel to start your painting desire and a chess game to enhance logic skills, I even manages to give you a tiny beach area by the pool, where you can enjoy either a nice glass of iced tea or you can even mix yourself a cocktail. Of course I included the palm trees you love so much. There are plenty of fruit and vegetable plants around the garden. I am certain, you will be the best gardener of the region soon. You said you needed something to be fit. Well, I decided you will ove to exercise with this wonderful water slide. It is a lot more fun, isn’t it?
  I really hope you like your new home. Once you have accomplished your dentist career and earned a little more money, be sure to contact me. I will be more than happy to create a bigger home for you soon.

  Dear Hermey,
  I was contacted by The Hawthorne Project and asked to find you a home in the sun. After going through everything you wanted, I came up with a house that has everything you want. It is actually 2 houses in one. A small beach house with a wonderful bedroom, small bath and office. Plus, a separate open-air cabana housing the kitchen and living room. And this house is right on the beach. Plus, did I tell you it had a lanai? Oh, it is so wonderful, and not painted with that gawdy red or green that you hate so much. Oh no, this house is painted in vivid colors of the tropics, cool blues, sunset orange, and bright sunny yellow. The cabana is open air to let the cool ocean breezes flow through. Start your day with a refreshing shower and a good work-out at the punching bag. Then, in the afternoon, entertain your guests in the cabana's open concept kitchen/living room. Watch a little tv, listen or dance to some music, or play the latest sonata on the violin. Hungry? Gather some bountiful produce from your vegetable garden or pick some fruit from your lemon, apple and plantain trees. Then grill some fruit kebobs on your backyard bar-b-q. When it gets too hot, take a dip in your own lap pool, or concoct a tropical smoothie at the bar. As the sun sets, paint that fantastic sunset on the easel, and then, under the stars, play a game of chess. Retire to your own private office to spend some time studying to become a dentist, then relax and unwind and sleep peacefully in your gorgeous double duvet bed. As a special surprise, we stocked the dresser with a new summer wardrobe for you. A perfect house to get away from it all...especially the cold.   ENTRY DETAILS: This sunny starter home is the perfect place for anyone looking to escape the cold confines of factory drudgery and The Man. The semi-open layout gives privacy and focus when you need it but lots of light to uplift your spirit. The spacious walk-out bedroom is your doorway to relaxing evenings in the sun. The warm and sunny one-bedroom, one-bath layout leaves plenty of room for a single person to expand, or for someone to establish themselves and start a family! His old Tudor cottage sits in the lush countryside and has the landscaping to match but Hermey could only afford rather modest furnishings due to his previous job's low pay. Dear Hermey,
Make no mistake about the appearance of its austere facade with its sturdy door, this cabin made with barn planks is completely and literally open to the sea. What is better than living by the sea? To live on the beach!
Feel the breeze and the taste of salt in the air, the sun and calm, only hearing the breaking of the waves, and the sound of seagulls.
Do not worry about security, Brindleton Bay is a very quiet village with lovely and friendly people.
In this open-plan cabin all the furniture and decoration has been made by local artisans, and they have the typical style of Brindleton Bay. The guitar and bedside tables are made with driftwood. The curtains were made with boat sails. The bed is made with the imported trunks of Granite Falls that are used to build the masts. I chose a deep sea-colored bedspread for it.
In the bedroom you also have a large built-in wardrobe, taking advantage of the space lost by the inclination of the roofs.
Adjacent to the bedroom is the space for exercise or painting, it depends on what you want when you get up!
Up there you have lots of light and good views to the left and right to capture on your canvases.
No backyard, I know, the lot is small, but there are some majestic palm trees and ferns on the sides of the house and enough space for you to grow your own vegetables and fruits. Also, who needs a backyard, if you have all the beach and a beautiful lanai?
I was inspired by the Hawaiian lanai to build yours. From there starts the staircase that accesses the upper floor.
As you can see, it is very spacious and designed for relaxation. You can eat outside, sit and chat with friends, play chess, have a drink, take a dip in the pool, or just contemplate the sea or the stars at night.

A seating area to get out of the sun. Chess table not to be missed (which I almost did forget...)
There are veggies planted in the yard, but again, not too many, I believe you are just starting out with gardening, so give it time to grow.
An easel to take in the view (which is stunning on that lot). A seating area on the front porch as well, to just look at the people walking by.
Inside there's a living/kitching, a bathroom, a study for you to get your dentist degree. A calm and cool bedroom. And most of all, no green or red themes!

#BnS95 - We Need Some Space

The intercom buzzes and Karl’s voice on the other end sounds odd. Not frightened, more… in awe?

“There are some… people here for you?”

Was that a question? “Well, go ahead and schedule an appointment. I think next week is free-“

“I think you need to see this for yourself,” she whispers.

You head out to the lobby to find out what could possibly have your secretary in such a state. There are three large men in black suits and sunglasses with radios in their ears. You wonder if this is a prank, they look straight out of some government conspiracy movie. You aren’t entirely sure which one is in charge so you simply address them as a group.

“Good morning, gentlemen. What can I do for you?”

One looks around the room before talking into a hidden microphone. “It’s all clear.”

You are certainly seeing why Karl was a little overwhelmed. Just then a very professional-looking woman enters carrying a briefcase and followed by another man in a suit. She walks up and offers her hand, which you take politely.

“You must be the architect. I apologize for the…” She tips her head toward the three men and smiles. “Protocol.”

“Of course. Protocol,” you echo, still having no idea what is going on. “I’m sorry, I missed your name.”

“General Leanne Harris, SSA,” she says, and you are caught off guard by how warm her presence is. You always though Generals were meant to be gruff. And… old.

“The Sim Space Agency?” You see Karl’s eyes pop, and hope you are keeping better hold on your own surprise. “What can I do for you?”

Because you honestly have no idea what you could possibly do for the SSA

“Can we talk in your office?” General Harris asks.

Oh dear, you really are flustered by this! “Of course, my apologies. This way.” You lead her to your office, the man behind her following but the other three staying in the lobby.

She doesn’t sit but instead opens her briefcase and hands you a yellow folder. “As you are no doubt aware, the SSA is researching the possibility of sending Sims to Mars.”

Of course, you know, you’ve been following the news whenever you can. You just love the idea of space travel!

“But what does that have to do with me?” you ask, opening the folder and seeing some concept sketches for… Mars habitations?

General Harris smiles. “We at SSA know that sometimes the best ideas can come from the least expected places. Our engineers can handle the logistics of interplanetary goods movements, material strength, desalinization, that sort of thing,” she says with a wave of her hand. “But when it comes to people, to psychology, we want to tap into the resources available right here in our community. Your work in architecture has become something of a legend, and we’d like you to help design a Mars habitation unit.”

You gape.

“Just a prototype, of course. It will be built here on earth, but we need to conduct extended isolation tests with our crew and that means we need a fully-functional environment that can simulate living on Mars.”

“And you want me?” You only wish you could do your happy dance singing ‘yes, yes, yes!’ without looking too unprofessional.

“Who better? You understand what people want and need in a living space, how to layout areas for best use. We’re hoping you can offer a fresh design perspective for us to consider. And,” she stresses, “You’re good with a budget.”

You can’t help but smile a little at that. “And what is my budget for this?”

“It’s all in the brief,” she says with a smile.


THE BRIEF

• Design a Mars Habitation for a 6-Sim team of astronauts and scientists.
  
  
• Habitation must be fully self-contained (there is no atmosphere!)
  
  
• Must include areas or objects for sleeping, hygiene, fitness, cooking, recreation, plants, and research.
  
  
• Built on a 30x30 or smaller lot. No more than 1 level below ground, which can also include a swimming pool (but no other usable floorspace) and no more than two levels above ground. (for a maximum of 3 total floors)
  
  
• This is a prototype build, so ‘landscape’ doesn’t matter, but it should be isolated from other structures.

BUDGET: §500,000 or less (lot cost + building cost).

SIM CHALLENGE: Create the 6 Sims astronauts and show them living and working in their habitation. Tell us what their fields of speciality are and their attributes that make them important for a Mars mission!

ROOM CHALLENGE: Show us what you can create us indoor fruit and veggie garden for your Mars Habitation, plus a space to study all those new alien plants.... There is no limit on the budget you can use for this part of the challenge.

My thought was that a Mars habitat should have an airlock, which would also have a place to store spacesuits and equipment, the entryway with doors on both sides. The living areas are protected from radiation and sandstorms by being underground. The science lab is the only area not adjacent to the other octagons in case of a problem. I imagine the caution door would also seal it off form the hallway. There are two bookshelves so Sims can chosoe a book from the basement bookshelf to read in bed.

The original concept was a reproduction of the living areas in the domes in Surviving Mars.
They are big and some handle dozens of colonists. All kinds of industry to work at and places to have fun.

ENTRY DETAILS: I loved this idea. I tried to put a lot of thought into my build and make it somewhat realistic to space travel and such. I gave the station a roundish feel which is seen better by the roofing. The rooms are basic and uniform for easy construction. Plenty of storage through out building to keep all the supplies. The little black square wall hangings seen in nearly all the rooms was my idea for two way camera/monitors with which to communicate and check on all the stations rooms. The living quarters each have a shower and sink and toilet. Locking doors adds to privacy. Each one is basically the same except for little decorating touches the crew was allowed to bring to make their space feel more like home. Space on the ship was limited so they were each only allowed a few items. The kitchen has no stove but microwaves and beverage makers. Those prepackaged meals just need a little "nuking". I ended up putting the garden in a basement. I needed the space. I put a little furry friend down there for our astronauts. That is where you will also find the water filtering system. I also added a hallway to the telescope to make it enclosed and part of the habitat.

There is also a back-up MegaSim-2525 generator. A new water filtration technology is featured utilizing the underground Martian water wells and plant's photosynthesis properties to ensure plenty of clean water. Enjoy life in space, with space-age technology in the kitchen with a food synthesizer, bar and lounge area, and recreation and library. Command center and science lab, plus a garden research center employing experimental growing techniques. Four droids are also featured to help in the daily work.

Dear general Harris,
This is my design for the sims Mars – Project. I hope you will be happy to find that I have managed to stay within the budget and size of the project. The top 2 storey of the build are designed for the living quarters of your scientists. They key to happiness when living in a secluded area is both space and privacy. That is why each scientist has his/her own en-suite bathroom in the sleeping- area. There is a spacious dining-place with a canteen, which will be able to serve even more people, if proven necessary. The living-room area has a TV and playing features, there is a big gym, complete with a yoga- and pool area. Surrounding the build is a glasshouse roof- and wall system to be let on the Marsian ground, ready to host Marian plant-life. One of the scientists is from Sixam and he agreed to provide some of their original plants to try if the conditions work. The light of the UV-lamps in this section is different to the “normal” greenhouse as it provides the for Mars required colour-spectrum. You also find the observatory in this area, it has been fitted very tightly WITHIN the roof, so that no oxygen escapes and the atmosphere is preserved.
The whole “science area” is downstairs in the basement. This makes it easier for thew scientists to maintain a “work-life balance” by actually separating work and free-time. There is a big microscope room, a room for chemistry analysis, a big greenhouse for all sorts of fruit and vegetables. Since the greenhouse is in the basement, it is two storeys high and has room enough, even for trees. There is also an archaeology room and a room for physical experiments, which also contains the motors for electricity, and oxygen, needed for the Sims to survive. One of the Sim scientists should be a doctor to help with any medical emergency that is why I included a small hospital ward. Apart from a small kitchen for break time, there is also a big study –and conference room, where each scientist has his or her own desk, as well as a conference table. Last, but not least, the Sixam offered to place one of their transportation devices into the Mars-station. This may enable visiting scientists from Sixam, or if found , from Mars, without having to open the outer doors. Sixam promised to deliver one of these transporter systems to other Alien scientists, if needed.
The costs were within the budget. But to make things cheaper, the sleeping quarters and bathrooms are all of modular structure. Creating them the same, will make serial build cheaper and more effective. Furniture of both bedroom and bathroom are available in a variety of colours to ensure private taste despite this money-saving procedure.

P.S. I forgot to add, there is a small cupboard under the basement stairs. It contains a baby bed and a small cupboard with clothing and baby-formula. While I whole-heartedly discourage anyone to raise a child under such enclosed conditions, accidents DO happen and the extreme short Sim pregnancy might find it impossible to find an emplacement scientist in time. This supply might bridge the early baby stage, enabling the mother to return to Simsworld via Sixam when the child has reached toddler stage.
Technical comment. The hospital wing would be playable as a hospital if you swapped the alien are with a reception room. I did not do that, for the obvious reason that the sims insice the Mars project should be enclosed on their own during the trial perod. But I still wanted medical emergencies on Mars taken care of

MARSupium is the name of this Mars habitat. It is a fully contained and self-sufficient living space, where our astronauts won't just work, but really live happy lives. Everything has been aimed at providing as much comfort you would find in your own home. Ofcourse there is a lot of technical stuff that goes into making a place habitable on an inhospitable planet like Mars, so all life-support systems have been incorporated as well. Still, the main focus has been to build a space the astronauts would really feel at home in, with lots of greenery, flowing hallways, stunning views spanning all 3 floors and most of all, that homey feel only color, fabrics and textures can provide. I've decorated the living spaces quite vibrantly for this reason. I hope you will like the tour in the slideshow!

Mateo 'Bushman' Mera is our Biologist and Botanist.
He was always kind of a wild child. Running away from home, bringing 'lost' puppies back when he returned. He grew up on his families farm where he helped with the livestock and crops, inventing new ways to increase biodiversity and yield. He never thought he would be able to go to college, let alone university, but his parents and teachers saw great potential in his divergent mind and brilliant inventions. So they collaborated to get him a scholarship.
As a biology student he once went to Selvadorada to study fire bats for two months. He ended up staying for three years, discovering many new types of plants. Among those was a distinct alien species, which triggered an interest in space. This is also how he earned his nickname 'Bushman'.
After finishing his biology studies, he pursued his PhD. in botany. After wich he applied for the SSA's astronaut candidate program. His time surviving in the jungle made him an excellent candidate and he was accepted. He never stopped his research and published several studies even after becoming an astronaut.
He likes rockclimbing, cooking and gardening.
Tito 'Titan' Nguyen is our aerospace engineer and self-taught computer wizz.
Growing up there was nothing he rather did than playing computer games. He was a quiet and shy boy, never really feeling he fit in. When he discovered online gaming, he became somewhat of a legend with his avatar 'Titan', winning several major tounaments. By this time he had taught himself how to fix any computer he could get his hands on. Interacting with so many people and traveling the world for contests really helped him come out of his shell.
He studied computer science and worked as a computer systems engineer for a few years, but found it utterly boring. He missed the thrill he loved so much in gaming, so he set to finding himself a career that would fit him better. He decided to get his PhD. in aerospace engineering and went for a job interview at the SSA, who suggested he might be an ideal candidate for their astronaut candidate program instead. He jumped at the chance and got accepted.
Dr. Micheal 'X-Ray' Kane is our physician and surgeon. He also does some bio-engineering in the medical field.
He was an army brat. He grew up moving with his parents from base to base, all over the world. After military school he became an army pilot.
This however, never fully satisfied him, so he went and studied medicine at the Uniformed Services University. He was a field doctor for years, before he became interested in bio-engineering.
He earned his nickname 'X-Ray' because of his unprecedented precision equally with a weapon and a scalpel. His colleagues said he must have X-ray vision.
He collaborated with the Biomedial Engineering for Exploration Space Technology (BEEST) Laboratory and became more and more interested in space exploration. A few years ago he was accepted to the SSA's astronaut candidate program. He has been training for missions like these ever since.
He likes playing chess and, although he is an utterly serious man, he secretly loves to dance (aslong as nobody is watching ofcourse).
Carmen 'Hot Stuff' Ash is our Chemist.
She has always been kind of a day-dreaming girly girl, except for her fascination with science. In the small town where she grew up, she was the only girl in her school to attend those classes, and aced every one of them. When the guys were all going to MIT, nobody really thought she would go as well, being a girl and all. Initially she just went to spite them, but she ended up falling in love with Chemistry.
Being such a pretty girl, she was used to guys hitting on her. So when one day at work a guy yelled "Watch out, Hot Stuff coming through!" when she was walking by with her tray of radioactive and highly hazardous materials, she automatically assumed he meant her. They were both a little embarrassed when it became clear he had only meant to warn people about what she was carrying around. Still, the nickname "Hot Stuff' stuck, because she definitely was a head-turner.
She started working for the SSA to help develop quick and easy watercontamination tests. She met Micheal Kane and joined him in perfecting ways to create medical tracers and chemical markers for use in outer space. He was highly impressed with her skills, said he could use her help 'on the road' and suggested she'd apply to the astronaut candidate program to see if she could join him on his missions. Ofcourse she did and now she is the newest member of the team.
She likes to paint and play the violin.
Sam 'O-matic' O'Reilly is our Mechanical engineer.
She was the only child of a flightschool owner. Her dad looked after her on his own after her mom died when she was three. From the time she could walk, she was at the fightschool, always tinkering around with the broken equipment. When she was 12 she could fix anything from parachute equipment to planes. Everybody said: "with Sam around everything gets fixed automatically". After a while they just started calling it 'Sam-o-matic repairs' and her name became synonymous with that.
Since her father was a flying fanatic, he taught her to fly as soon as she could reach the levers and pedals. The day she turned 17 she got her official licence and started working with her dad, not only on the ground but also in the air.
Two years later he died. Utterly distraught Sam just wanted to get away from the place she had loved so much, but was now painfully empty without her father. She decided to sell the flightschool and she used the money to get her commercial pilot licence. When she realized she wasn't old enough to fly with any domestic airline yet, she decided to go abroad. She became one of the youngest airline pilots ever. After a few years she met a nice young man, settled down with him and stopped taking every flight she could get.
After a while she even quit her job to study Mechanical engineering, because she had started to miss tinkering a lot. She did notice she had a hard time staying in one place, still. She was getting pretty restless. When she got her degree and suggested to her guy they should spend some time traveling, he couldn't leave his home... and she couldn't stay. On her way to the airport she was thinking about her years flying and realized there was no place on this earth she hadn't already been. She decided her only option was to not stay on this planet... and got herself to SSA to apply to the astronaut candidate program. She (again) became one of the youngest to get accepted and has been flying missions for a few years now.
Mira 'Rockstar' Rey is our Geologist.
After getting her PhD. in Geology, she conducted extensive research in Antarctica and the jungles of Selvadorada. During one of her studies - as a newbie in the field- she was sure she had found some rare spacerocks and rushed to show her supervisors. In her excitement she tripped and fell face first into a huge excavation ditch, losing her precious spacerocks and frantically jumping around to both find them and not ruin the whole excavation. One of her colleagues saw her 'dancing around' and decided to play 'We will Rock you' very loudly on his boombox, alerting everyone in camp to Mira's predicament and earning her the nickname 'Rockstar'.
One of her fascinations is terraforming. She wrote several papers on this subject, gaining prestige and respect in her community . She worked for the SSA as a scientist, remotely investigating the stratigraphy, geology and geomorphology of Mars' surface for years. When she heard a team was going to be sent there in the near future, she immediately applied for the astronaut candidate program, and was happy to be accepted and chosen to be one of the scientist joining the mission.
She loves rockclimbing and started practicing creative writing.

Notes about my entry: The Doctors stuff doesn't work its purely aesthetic(doctor items have never worked off of a sims job site). I wanted to make it look like the facility had a medical bay, and i also wanted to make a creepy alien dissection room that's heavily monitored and barricaded to civilian sims.
The Mars module is built into the side of a pool and 2 small caves can be found on the lot with strange flora! The sub level has a very noticeable rock formation jutting into the room. I wanted to make it look like the sims had hit a rare martian ore vein and then built around it(Like frey house 2. A refrence picture of this is saved to the slideshow as well.)
The theme for my build was retro futurism which i based the build off of a picture i will add into the slideshow. Retro futurism was based off of science and technology advancements that never came to be, and I wanted to capture the pure absurdity of retro futurism in this build!

ENTRY DETAILS: Where to start?? I wanted to make something that felt utilitarian, for the most part, but also added some sort of comfort, a home away from home. So the astronauts got stuck with sleeping pods instead of bigger bedrooms, but I added some greenery behind glass, and included natural light even on the basement level, to try to keep them sane up there. I also wanted to focus on the greenhouse area - and that's where I started and the build developed from. I had fun!

ENTRY DETAILS: The name 'Things To Come' is taken from a 1930's sci-fi movie. This name will tell your Sims of what life will be like living on other worlds.
The structure is modular based on 3 inter connecting pods of various sizes. They are designed as pods as this will be much easier transporting through space and they can safely touch down on the surface of the planet with minimum assembly or construction required. The first pod is the smallest and is the entrance for your intrepid Sims. There are lockers provided to hang space suits, helmets and rocket boots. A sink and hand sanitizer are provided to aid the decontamination process.
Entering the second larger pod I changed the style to be more industrial. Lots of metal is used , the lighting is darker and lots of pipes and machines are seen. I have also included lots of CCTV cameras through out primarily for the safety of the astronauts in case there is a breach of security and something else comes on board....I have also included fire extinguishers throughout and sprinkler systems are installed. The second pod has direct view down into the basement living areas for the crew as seen in the photos. There is also a door leading to the water processing tower. (Water is obtained through the various rock formations on the planet).
Going into the 3rd and largest pod you enter a laboratory and the same dark colour scheme continues. I included an enlarged specimen jar and my phots show a Sim/Alien hybrid clone growing within- nothing can go wrong right? There are 2 sets of stairs in the lab. Going up leads to the self contained medical bay- it can be easily quarantined in the event of an emergency. Here I went for a clinical look and feel and chose a harsh white colour scheme. Stairs going down lead into the living quarters for the crew.
The living quarter contains a gym area, a self contained greenhouse , a crew social room sleeping and toilet/shower quarters and a kitchen. I included 2 bedrooms each holding 3 beds. There is a communal shower room and 3 separate toilet facilities. The décor in all of the living quarter is minimal and practical. The only real colours come through in the living room area and a splash in each of the bedrooms. Colour also is found in the centre of the room in the collection of alien plant life and crystals.
The exterior of the pod units is clad in metal sheets, the roof of the largest pod is a golden colour to harvest the suns rays to power the facility and there are lots of air vents and units used throughout.
Really I have enjoyed this challenge as it was completely alien to me All the entries are out of this world good luck to everyone taking part!

We Need Some Space
Build a Mars Habitat Simulation for astronauts and scientists. I decided to make it a Simulation Dome – for testing the layout of the habitat and making sure that the atmospheric technical stuff would sustain the inhabitants, when placed on Mars.
Layout: The dome itself takes up the entire space of the lot. Three stories high, covered all in glass. Inside the dome there are 6 mission crew barracks, one for each crew member. Each crew member has their own area of expertise, and these are reflected in the sleeping quarters. Technically, all sleeping quarters are furnished exactly the same (space military SSA style), but with different bits and bobs connected to the traits, careers and hobbies of the Sim living there.
The barracks are all above ground. Underground, you’ll find the common areas, such as a common room, mess hall, toilettes etc., as well as the science labs and other rooms related to the area of expertise of the Sims.
The sleeping quarters are wisely placed. Via the stairs placed in their sleeping quarter, a Sim can go directly underground and will immediately find themselves next to the area that meets the needs or holds the equipment suited for that particular Sim’s traits or expertise. For instance, the doctor’s sleeping quarter is placed directly above the medical bay.
The underground level is divided into four main areas, almost like three rings surrounding a core. The outermost ring area is the utilities ring, where all life support/atmospheric/tech stuff is located. Next ring contains the labs and work space for carrying out scientific analysis and tactical, medical, and physical tasks. Then there’s a hallway connecting all the work spaces with the core. The core is the main living area, and includes mess hall and common room, fully equipped with leisure, activities and entertainment items.

From toe to tip, she was the very image of the perfect lady from the 1800’s. Her high-waisted dress in cream silk with a red velvet pelisse, lace gloves, and topped with a brown velvet bonnet with feathers and ribbons so wonderfully framing her older, but still very lovely face.

She gracefully offers her hand and gives a small curtsey. “How do you do?”

“I’m- well. Thank you,” you say, feeling so utterly graceless and crude in your manners by comparison.

“I am glad to hear it,” she says, either not caring or not noticing your awkwardness.

“Please, have a seat. Um, would you like some tea?” It seems the only appropriate thing to offer, really.

“No, thank you,” she says as she sinks into the chair with a grace you only wish you had.

You take your seat and pick up your pencil, ready to take notes.

“Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jane Moore; I am the president of the local chapter of the Jane Austen Society.”

You’ve seen some of the movies based on her books, it’s how you knew the time frame of her clothing. “Oh, I love her stories,” you say, not quite admitting you’ve never actually read the books. “How can I help?”

“Well, I have recently come into a small fortune,” she says, though you suspect by ‘small’ she is being purposefully modest. “And wish to have a house built based on our beloved authoress's time. My very own Pemberly, if you will.”

“That is quite a large house if I remember correctly?”

“Indeed, though it is not the size I am after, but the elegance. I wish for a house that will exude the Regency, where I can entertain, keep guests, and host teas.”

That still sounds quite large to you, but you write down what she says. You’ll discuss finer details later.

“I also wish for an extensive garden, both flowers and vegetables. My gardener will tend them, and my cook will need to have the fresh produce easily accessible.”

“I see. Will you, um…” you wonder how to gracefully put this. “Will they need bedrooms?”

“Good heavens, no. I will only employ one live-in staff member, my nurse. The others will simply work for me. People have their own places these days,” she says as if that should have been perfectly obvious. And perhaps it would have been under other circumstances.

“Tell me a bit more about what you’d like in your house,” you say, wanting to change the subject.

“It will need all the basic rooms; a large central hall with the staircase, a parlour, sitting room, drawing room, dining room, library and study, and I need six bedrooms, plus appropriate bathing and toilet facilities. I have a grand piano, so will need space to put it.”

As you write you notice one rather important thing seems to be missing. “And a kitchen?” you prompt.

“Oh, that’s all down below the house. I trust you, as the architect, to fill in the appropriate spaces there.”

“Of course, I will ensure nothing is overlooked.”

“One last thing. My favorite color is red, which I want to be reflected in the decor, but I don’t want it to be overwhelming, make judicious use of it.”

ENTRY DETAILS: I'm not sure I've ever put so much time into a build, between research, fiddling with learning the building system, experimenting with aesthetics, and all the rest of the work that goes into builds... I really wanted to see what I could do with a bit more time and no budget, but I'm still really happy with the end result. (I might've invested in a pack or two because of this build) I feel like I've made some leaps and bounds with trying to get creative in making the game do things I wanted it to, like it being the first time I figured out how to hang curtains over a bed to seem realistic.
I've built to what my research and understanding produced, regarding general trends I saw, from L-shaped staircases, to grand open lawns, and lush gardens (with a love of roses thrown in). I tried to find little details to draw the rooms and spaces together to seem more like a uniform estate - the red room aside - because most grand estates have at least quirky bedroom, right? And, of course, every grand manor is haunted. I tried to default to a more georgian style, which still seemed rather dominant the regency era style, with pictures EVERYWHERE and fireplaces and rugs in basically every room, and the larger bathrooms upstairs. Candles are the only source of light, and I tried to keep the tubs as accurate as I could in keeping with the general style. There seemed to be a lot of balancing of open space with somewhat cluttered decor which I found interesting and tried to recreate in the appropriate rooms. Almost everything is gilded in gold, and red is represented without being overpowering (again, except for the ridiculous "Red Room.")

ENTRY DETAILS: This is my first ever entry to any kind of real building challenge, and I had a lot of fun with it. Okay, so the Jane Austen fan-woman wanted six bedrooms and there's seven, but it came under budget and that's all that matters. I'm pretty proud of the faux-four-poster bed as well as the basement kitchen and larder. The maze is easy but adds a little extra class, and the kitchen garden is ready to go.

ENTRY DETAILS: Going into this, I thought I had a pretty good grasp on the regency style, but I soon realized I was jumbling up quite a few different "literary time periods" in my mind.. E.M. Forster, Jane Austen, P.G. Wodehouse, John Fowles... However, I figured Jane is probably an anglophile at heart, and has room for more than just Jane Austen in her home. Plus, I pictured her live-in nurse as a much younger, more modern girl, so I had to make her living space something that she would enjoy. Overall, I didn't want something too imposing- I wanted more of a country feel for Hartfield; something that might fit into a small village.. if Newcrest were to qualify as a small village.
I made the formal spaces on the first floor, and decided to give Jane a separate living space near the library and study. The modest amount of money" was inherited from her father, who was a bit of an eccentric, and quite a collector of "curiosities".. . which she also inherited. I imagine she'll spend quite a bit of time sneaking across the hall to filch books to read in bed, or to pore over some rare shell or piece of seaweed in the study.
The upstairs space is mostly for guest use... so, there are a few more TVs up there than you'll find on the first floor. There are still plenty of spaces for curling up with a good book, tho! And Beatrice, the nurse, is tickled pink with her mod cons... she's really more of a Stephen King fan, if she's going to be honest.

Both are from MTS, the floor pavers are are by Blackgryffin (old grassy floor pavement) and the rugs are from nafSims (Art Deco & Art Nouveau Rugs and Colors & Stripes Rugs) and BibiDoubleZero (Animal Rugs). Also, I used MOO and resizing throughout the build.

I wanted to be as historically accurate as possible, within the limitations of the game. So my “bath” rooms are separated from the toilet rooms, which are mostly tucked away under staircases. And there are no modern conveniences in the kitchen or anywhere else.
My build is based on a terraced house, which is why there are no windows on either side. So the backyard garden is divided into two parts, the formal flower garden for relaxing and a separate vegetable and herb garden area which leads into the kitchen entrance.

ENTRY DETAILS: Mrs. Moore's Regency Era House. I am not 100% sure how to count the floors, so there is 1- Basement, 2 - Ground Floor and 3 - First Floor. Also, if I mixed up what a parlor, a sitting room and a drawing room is - I am sorry!
I like to think of Mrs. Moore as a widow, so there are some paintings of her late husband (a captain maybe) and of her children in their teens around. In her youth Mrs. Moore was a ballett dancer, the stature in the entrance hall depicts her on her first performance as a prima. She has had the guest bedrooms done in neutral colours, through one of them is slightly pink and reserved for her daughter. The nurses room is more sleek, seeing as "Schwester Luise" quiet likes her modern comforts - there is however a hidden entry behind a bookcase to Mrs. Moore for nighttime emergencies. The garden is well stocked and reachable through a hidden exit from the house... the way from the kitchen to the dinning room is also hidden. In Mrs. Moore's word: "Help is not to be heared or seen."

ENTRY DETAILS: This house and its gardens were an attempt to combine several ideas and images into one. I tried to stick to a Regency era layout and color sheme. The hallways are green because that was the color of the house that gave me ideas about how to do the stairs, entry and ground floor layout. Most of the lighting is from candles as it would have been then. The gardens were based on a combination of different actual English gardens.

So I tried to give Elinor and her sisters not Barton Cottage, but kind of "Barton Hall". The place they would have deserved...
I tried to be as close to a regency house as I could floorplanwise. So I added a servants staircase with a direct door to Ms Moores abth, just in case she needs the sudden help of her nurse - apart from that I stick to a cream - red colorscheme except for the bedrooms which I colored in a brighter variety but still I tried to include splashes of red.
I took as many pictures as I could, but I forgot two bathrooms on the second floor and I couldn't manage to get decent shots of the other bedroom in the attic, well because.. it is in the attic and the camera glitches there but it is visible in the bird's eye view.

I wish for a house that will exude the Regency, where I can entertain, keep guests, and host teas” I decided to go for a modest size Regency style house with the typical white stucco exterior walls, black entry door framed by columns and iron balconies. I kept to Regency interior style as much as possible but figured there would be certain features, ie WCs, kitchen equipment, etc, that needed to be appropriate for a house of 2018. There are certainly plenty of areas to entertain guests inside and out, including the welcoming room of the parlour, piano in the sitting room, a game table in the drawing room plus indoor and outdoor dining.

After I read they didn't liked strait lines which stood for the monarchy which doesn't seem to be very popular at this time I remodelled it to an english landscape garden and included a folly and popular ruins. ENTRY DETAILS: I have a love of large red brick stately homes and I went with this as my starting point for the build. I am grateful the budget was increased as I practically used all of it! I took inspiration from a view stately homes that I researched -mainly Goodnestone Park in Kent and also Filoli in California. (Filoli was used for the original tv series Dynasty and that is where I also took the name Carrington from for this build).
So this is my interpretation of a Regency manor house using Sims 4. Some décor would not be classified strictly as Regency but I worked with all that was in game. I looked up colour schemes used in Regency times and incorporated blues, greens and yellows into the interior colour scheme as well as the red as requested by the client. Some rooms have red as the main colour, others have it in small décor or flower decorations only.
The entrance leads to a large central hallway with dual staircases leading to an open landing which looks directly down into the hallway. To the right upon entering is the dining room and to your left is the drawing room. To the rear is the sitting room adjacent to the drawing room and the parlour which is connected to the dining room. A downstairs toilet room and stairs down to the basement kitchen complete this floor.
The basement kitchen has a utility room and 2 doors leading to a front and rear courtyard gardens. The front courtyard is mainly flowers and is for decoration whilst the rear courtyard is larger with space for vegetables to grow. There is also a washing line for all the lined to dry. No washing machine though, I have put minimum appliances in this house in keeping with the period it is supposed to be replicating.
The 1st floor (or second if you count the ground floor as the 1st and ignore the basement :/ ) has the 2 largest bedrooms in the house both with large ensuite bathrooms. Stairs leading up to the top floor have the remaining 4 bedrooms- 2 medium and 2 small- and all with their own bathrooms. I envisaged one of the smaller rooms for the live in nurse. Also on this top floor I included the library/study. It went here out of necessity mainly but its the ideal place to study in peace away from the hubbub of downstairs. :)
The gardens I had most fun with. The veranda at the rear of the property has steps leading down into the basement kitchen and also down into the gardens which in turn lead down to a walled-in, sunken garden. I also added a few trees and stripes to the lawn.
Really enjoyed this build and the massive budget so thank you @BuildnShare . Hope you all enjoy The Carrington. I am loving everyone's builds but time is preventing me from commenting individually. Good luck everyone.

ENTRY DETAILS: Ms. Jane Moore is the President of the local chapter of the Jane Austen Society. She recently had a house built in the Regency style and enjoys entertaining at her new abode. Alice is her live in Nurse and enjoys all of the perks of living with Ms. Jane in her beautiful Mansion. Lydia is the housekeeper, who loves dressing up in 1800's maid fashion for her new boss and guests. Outside of work she's tons of fun. Chef Cabernet is the chef and wine connoisseur and is slowly making his way into Jane Moore's heart through her stomach. Glenn is the groundskeeper/gardener. He enjoys being outside and is often seen talking to the beautiful flowers, fruits and vegetables surrounding Ms. Jane's Estate.

#BnS97 - A Garden for Daisy

You gave Karl the day off to get ready for one of his boys violin recital, so you aren’t surprised when you hear a soft knock at your door.

You open it to find an elderly man standing there, hat in his hands. “Good afternoon,” he says, a thick accent you can’t quite place but find not at all unpleasant.

“Good afternoon,” you echo, shaking his hand. “Mr…?”

“Ah, Lee. Mr. Lee,” he says.

You welcome him inside and offer some coffee, which he accepts gracefully.

“What can I do for you, Mr. Lee?”

“Well, it’s not for me so much, it’s for my wife. Or, well I suppose for both of us. You see, the Missus - Daisy - she loved her flowers. Her garden was the most important thing in her life.”

“I suspect it was the second most important,” you offer.

He gives a small blush and smile. “That’s kind of you. I’ve never had much of a green thumb, but the flowers remind me of her. You see, I lost her just this winter, and the cemetery… it’s just not the place for her.”

“You want a private mausoleum?” you ask.

“Oh no, nothing like that. She’d complain. Cold never agreed with her, you see. She’d say it was too chilly with all that stone.”

You nod, but you aren’t really sure what he’s asking for then.

“No, what I’d like is a garden. As I said, I’m not good with plants and flowers myself, so I’d like to donate some property to the city, and a small fund for them to keep it up. I’ll sprinkle her ashes on the ground. I just need a place to sit, then I can visit for a while and she can feel at home in the soil and the plants. Maybe if it’s a public garden, people will come and visit she won’t ever be lonely. Even after...”

You suspect he means after he’s gone, too.

“That’s beautiful,” you say. You aren’t holding back tears, just something in your eye is all.

“If you could design a garden for me and my Missus, I’d be much obliged. With plenty of flowers, a place to sit, and… and maybe a pond or fountain or something like that. I find water very soothing.”

“Of course, Mr. Lee. I’d be honoured.”


THE BRIEF

ENTRY DETAILS: This is my first BnS Challenge entry, and I think I did okay and entered everything correctly, I hope. The client asked for a garden for his late wife, Daisy with a budget of $12,000. I have added some nice planters, flowers, a seating/eating area, a chess area, yoga and basketball court. I think this would make a wonderful place to come and relax while also growing food for your community! It could bring everyone together for block parties and I see parties of all kinds being held here.

ENTRY DETAILS: I had more fun with this than I should have.. originally I thought Daisy Lee had passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long and productive life.. But Rabid Rodent Fever was just too tempting!
Albert Lee (Bertie to his friends) is now the owner of a small garden in Brindleton Bay; down near the wharf, where they've lived ever since Bertie retired.. Who knew that rodents might be an issue? The garden has small water feature with a bridge path, leading to a picnic area, and a bench where Bertie and Daisy's ghost can sometimes be seen canoodling. There are also some gnome statues, to remind Daisy of her garden back home and a bird feeder where they can watch the birds.
The park seems to be a big success; I had trouble taking pictures on their first visit- several townsfolk wanted to get in the picture, too!

ENTRY DETAILS: Sid and Daisy grew up together from childhood to old age. They were true soulmates. When she passed, Sid wanted a memorial to their life and love together. All her life, Daisy loved gardens. They spent every vacation visiting the world's gardens, but Daisy loved the simple, pure ones best. So Sid donated a little plot of land in the newly formed town of Newcrest in hopes of setting a tone of peace for the little burg. He has left the land to the town in his will, at which time it will become a public garden where citizens will be welcome to spread the ashes of their own loved ones.

ENTRY DETAILS: Chen spends many days at the park, remembering his dearly departed wife and admiring the gardens built in her honour.
They were childhood sweethearts born in China and they moved to Newcrest shortly after being married. Sadly, Daisy was never able to have children so she devoted all her time to her darling husband Chen, and her flower gardens. They kept her very happy until the ill fated day of her departing this world.

Entry Details: Mr. Lee loved his wife Daisy very much, and when she died he wanted a way to preserve her memory so he donated a lot in the center of Brindleton Bay for a community garden. The majority of flowers are daisies, but others have been added for variety and color. ENTRY DETAILS: Daisy’s Rest Park is a public park in the town of Willow Creek (on the site of the former Streamlet Single), created through the generous donation by widower Bai Lee in memory of his wife, Daisy. Daisy’s passion for gardening and flowers has been brought over into both her memorial square and the park at large, providing lovely green cover and bright pops of color for the community to enjoy.
This is best situated in place of the Streamlet Single in Willow Creek, but it will likely work in many 20×15 lots. Just remember – many of these trees and flowers are not comfortable in extreme environments!

ENTRY DETAILS: To honor his dearly departed wife Mr Lee donated the lot
and had a garden for Daisy built.
I had an idea about using ruins from the get go.
I was going to have the park in town, but faking a 20x15 lot on a 20x20. But I stayed true to the challenge.
So what I had left was the Ancient Ruins, that can not be changed
to a park because the game thinks it's too special. Oh well It did work out nicely though.
