ENTRY DETAILS: I went all out here and agonized on how to create what I wanted to do within the budget. Sadly, I wasn't able to make the path over the pond functional, but it's a build challenge, so I've consoled myself with having built it and how it looks. I had originally built a rock pathway, but building a basement to keep it elevated wasn't in the budget, so I went back and changed it over to using mailboxes instead. Mailboxes ended up being my saving grace xD I got creative as I could in creating all the spaces in budget! Including hand-building a fence out of free cubes.
A small park, though every area leads to somewhere! There's a loping field of flowers to immerse yourself in the sounds, smells, and touch of flowers and plants. A little bench and grave for remembering Daisy and resting. A fishing pond, with a stone path and little respite underneath a cascading waterfall. A 'wisteria' tunnel with butterfly nightlights. And a little picnic area nestled between the pond, flowers, and trellises. Seeing it at night is just as much a treat as the day!

ENTRY DETAILS: Death doesn't part these soulmates, and to show his love after her unfortunate passing, Bai has donated the funds to create a local community park full of flowers in her honor. Daisy loves roaming her restful new home while she waits...
Bai is an Elder with average skills and a dedicated devotion to his deceased wife. He gladly spends hours in the park with her, gazing at clouds, playing games, cleaning up after children, and sharing quiet moments together.
Daisy is as happy and friendly as she was in life, and she loves spending time with the memorial centerpiece in the park, including possessing it. (She also has a penchant for possessing the wastebaskets in the bathroom, strangely enough.) Because of her positive mood and uplifting presence, she spends a lot of time colored green or pink, which goes well with the flowers in the park, especially the daisies planted just for her behind the memorial bench.

ENTRY DETAILS: I decided to go for Salvadora, because I love all the different plants we are able to use there. Did not think about how expensive some of them are Over 500 for a tree and betwen 100 and 200 for flowers adds up really really quick. I could have easily spend double the amount.... still, the challenge of archieving a 'jungle feel' on this small a budget was fun. Hope you enjoy!
Mr. Lee first came to Selvadora as part of an archaeology expedition almost 50 years ago. On this trip he met the love of his live Daisy and never left. To celebrate their wedding, he bought the old lot, where the digs - which brought him to this little town - took place. Over the years it became a wild place and a favourite picknick spot for Mr. Lee and his love. Now that Daisy is gone, he wants the whole community to be able to visit. The entrance archways and the seating area are part of the old temple, which Mr. Lee discovered on his first dig in this space, so it was important to him to preserve both. Daisy especially loved Bromeliad Plants, so Mr. Lee asked that they were planted at the bottom of as many trees as possible -> in a few years they will cover the trunks, just like Daisy loved them. To remind him of his home town (Takashima), which is situated on Lake Biwa, ponds on different levels were added to this garden.

When Daisy left this world her beloved was grief stricken. To honor her memory & ease his pain, he donated this lot for a garden dedicated to her. The petal shaped fountains echo "he loves me, he loves me not"&.of course, HE LOVES HER! Enjoy an abundance of blooms. He's dedicated a special rock to place fresh daisy cuttings each day. In addition to the lot, Mr. Lee donated their family picnic table. It's worn and faded but holds years of memories. Here he can sit as he and Daisy have done before and enjoy the park/garden. <3

Inspired by The Generalife gardens in The Alhambra (Granada, Spain) one of the most beautiful garden in the world... but with the limitation of a budget of $12,000 in my version. I was fighting with the budget till the very latest minute!
I have imagined that Mr. Lee and his wife Daisy were visiting Granada on their Honeymoon and they fell in love with theses gardens.

He showed me an old mining lot which was totally wasted and the entrance to the mine was closed. "This is the lot. I want you to make it an inviting place again and a place for me to remember her." he said. Well lots of dust and dead earth, I can tell you! Me and my team explored the mine and you will not believe what we found. We had much work to do. Come and see yourself how it turned out.

ENTRY DETAILS: Bellis Perennis is the scientific name for daisy. Mr Lee chose this name to pay homage to his beloved Daisy and as an inside joke of sorts. The park is small, but has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing day. There is a chess table, picnic table with grill, water fountain, monkey bars, bathrooms and it is very close to fishing.

#BnS98 - The Four Seasons

As you are sitting at your desk reading the "New In Town" flyer, Karl buzzes you on the intercom.

Taking a sip of coffee, you answer it, “Yes, Karl?”

“Um, sorry to bother you, but the mayor is here to see you,” responded Karl. The mayor? What would the mayor be coming to see me for?
“Alright, send him in”, you answer as you straighten the jacket of your suit.

Mayor Sonny Windy walks in with his assistant, Blossom Frost, and they both smile broadly and come over and warmly shake your hand.
“Please sit down,” you start, “May I get you anything?”

“Oh, that won’t be necessary. We won’t take a lot of your time,” answered the mayor.

After everyone sits down again, the mayor’s assistant, Ms. Frost, passes me a flyer. It is the same flyer that I was reading before they entered.

Mayor Windy can barely control his excitement and takes a deep breath before he begins. “Have you seen who is coming to town? We are going to have celebrities living amongst us. Oh yes, it’s a family called The Climates. And they are looking to move here, but they need a house.”

“A house?” you try to interject before the mayor launches on again.

“Oh yes, but not just any house. I mean after all, they are celebrities.”

I must have looked a little lost because I blurt out, “Celebrities? Coming to town? Who are the Climates? Why had I not heard of them before?”

Mayor Windy continues, “Oh yes, they have their own show, called Seasons. It’s all so very exciting. My assistant has drafted up exactly what they are looking for and I know that you are the best person to coordinate such a large and important contract for our town. I mean, can you believe it, the mayors of the other towns are also building the perfect house for the Climates. It’s a town versus town contest by golly.”

The mayor’s assistant, Blossom Frost, hands me a thick folder. I open it slowly and look at the contents.

“You’ll see that there are 4 family members of the Climate family. Each family member likes a different season, so the house should reflect the four seasons. It should have at least 3 bedrooms.,” says Ms. Frost quietly.

“Is that it, just a house reflecting the four seasons...in what way?” You jot down notes on a pad of paper as she speaks.

“Well, Janine, the mother, likes autumn, and for her a wonderful kitchen and dining room decorated in fall colors would make her feel so warm and cozy. Arthur, the father, enjoys spring and gardening. A greenhouse, with a glass roof to let in the rays of sun to shine on his seedlings in his garden planters would light up his day. Their daughter, Summer, a teen, enjoys, what else - summer, so an outdoor patio with bar-b-q and pool will make her extremely happy. And Nicolas, the youngest is a toddler, and he and his mother love to snuggle together before a fire.”

“So, let me get this straight. Each town is having a competition to build a house for The Climates?” you question.

“Yes, that’s right, and the best house is where they will move to. So, you need to make sure that they move to our town,” blurts out Mayor Windy.
“Well, we’ll do our best,” I say.


THE BRIEF


Build on any lot in any town

Design a house for the Climate family reflecting the four seasons, with the following theme features:

At least 3 bedrooms
A kitchen and dining room reflecting the colors of autumn (reds, yellows, oranges) (for Janine - autumn)
A cozy living room with fireplace decorated in winter colors (for Nicolas - winter)
A greenhouse with a glass roof. Inside the greenhouse should be some planters for harvestables. The greenhouse can be separate from the house. (for Arthur - spring)
An outdoor patio with bar-b-q, sitting area, stereo and pool (for Summer - summer)

BUDGET: $200K total budget (includes the lot cost)

ENTRY DETAILS: I took inspiration from the blog posts and tried to create what they made me imagine. For autumn colours I used orange and brown very heavily on kitchen, dining are and the foyer that leads to them with some green and yellow tones here and there. I wanted to create an ambiance that invites you to table and makes you want to sit and chat long after food is all eaten. This is an open plan house so the only thing separating kitchen and foyer from the living room is a stone pillar. Behind the pillar we are welcomed by the cool colours of winter; blues whites and some faded purples and pinks to warm up the color scheme. To make the room more homey and less "cold" looking I picked a couch with lots of pillows and a loveseat to match. Final touch to warm up the place was the fireplace. Through the living room we're going our to back porch that has a colorful seat and a hot tub. Backyard is filled with lots of flowers and bushes and has a medium size pool with a jumping platform. There's a kiddie pool for the little toddler, a hand painted colourful picnic table, a little barbecue, an outdoor fireplace for cozy summer all-nighters, some shaded seats, a bar and of course, the indispensable, a poolside stereo. Right next to all these entertainment we see a little cabin with lots of windows and a glass roof. It's easy to figure out this one, it's a greenhouse! It's actually father's safe space in the house. He comes in every so often to wind down working with dirt or just meditate in the calm environment, surrounded by fresh earth and plant smells... Obviously the mother made sure to have a sink installed because who'd want him to touch all the doorknobs with those dirty hands! We're back inside now going upstairs, we're greeted by two arm chairs in front of the bay windows. On our immediate left there's a tiny corridor that leads to the office and in front of us is a hall where all the bedrooms open to... In teenage daughter we find lots of yellows and sky blues and greens to represent summer. It's a very energetic and fun room to be in! And right next to her room we are finding the toddler son's room. This couple knew what they were doing while they picked the calming tones of blue for a toddler room. The room is fairly empty to keep the boy safe but there's one detail we can't miss... An ode to boy's birthday in winter, snowflakes on the wall... Next to the bedroom there's the main family bathroom. fully equipped with a washing machine and a dryer too! Across the hall from the kid's bedrooms there's the master bedroom. The couple apparently wanted a seasonal decor but couldn't decide which theme to go for so they found the middle ground on earthy colours. The father always keeps fresh flowers on his side of the bed to have a spring feel while the mother has dried leaves on hers to remind her of their sweet first date. This room has a little en-suite complete with a toilet, shower and a sink.

ENTRY DETAILS: My house was built with a young, rich, modern family in mind. The Climates are celebrities and as such they have a taste for expensive things. My house for them is a modern, minimalist style as I think many of the rich and famous like to live this way. I built it at the top of the hill in Oasis Springs (similar to California - home of the rich and famous) where they have a view of the entire town below them. Not many people venture up here so it awards them some privacy as does the fence around the entire back yard. They don't want the paparazzi snooping and taking photos of the children.

Celebrities hidden in plain sight - that is what I call the house. This modest looking house just blends in in every neighborhood. The midcentury modern style yet is hip and trendy, but fully functional. After all and when they are not filming, they are an ordinary family, right? So I gave them an "ordinary home", but with a lot of luxurious details, e.g. the fenced in backyard gives them a lot of privacy just like the front of the house won't allow many glimpses of family life in the house. But they still are able to reach out to neighbors and make new friends in the wondeful Newcrest community. I think it will help Summer and Nicholas to stay down to earth and having an ordinary childhood.

ENTRY DETAILS: I wanted the Climates to live in a colorful and inviting home. So I added a lot of color to each room, though Nicholas's rooms are a bit blue since winter is generally blue and white unless you decorate for Christmas. Summer's bedroom is still colorful but I didn't want it overwhelming to sleep in. Janine and Arthur's bedroom has elements for both autumn and spring, plus some plants for Arthur's love of gardening. I love the colors of Autumn so the kitchen and dining room reflect those colors with a lot of orange, red, yellow, and brown. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a laundry room, and an office on the upper floor. The lower floor in addition to the living, dining, and kitchen, also has a half bath. There is ample porch space, both in front and in back. There is an additional side porch that can only be accessed from the front yard. It has a meditation board and a speaker so whoever is meditating can listen to some calming music. The greenhouse can be accessed from the front porch. The back porch/deck has a hot tub in addition to all of Summer's requests, plus some other items for the rest of the family to enjoy. The backyard also provides ample space and activities for everyone to use.
I was pleasantly surprised that I managed to stay below budget as I generally have a hard time sticking to a budget. This is the first build n share that i have managed to finish on time in quite a while so I hope you all like it.

ENTRY DETAILS: I have moved the Climate family into a upscale suburban home on the edge of Brindleton Bay so that they can have some privacy from the curious public eyes, but also so they could have a large outdoor space for entertaining and gardening, as well as a scenic view of the harbor. The house is a three bedroom, two bedroom house, complete with a swimming pool, a wrap around front deck, a back deck, an unfinished basement, and a playroom for the kids. It is Cape Cod/North Eastern style to fit in with the neighborhood. Unfortunately at the moment in my game it is early spring so not all of the landscaping has sprung.

ENTRY DETAILS: Welcome to your new home Climate Family! I have built you a Scandinavian styled home based on the homes found in Aurora Skies(sims 3 world). It has been decorated inside in a traditional style with a mix of influences throughout. Outside there is a greenhouse for dad to enjoy a bit of spring year round. It has plenty of flowers and veggies and herbs. Near by is a bee hive and a garden box to plant some outdoor plants of choice. The whole of the out door has been done in a summertime vibe for your teen aged daughter, Summer. There is lots to do outside in the good weather! Slip and slide fun, pool, outdoor movie showings in the weatherized TV shed, grilling, and a kiddie pool in the shade. The main hall is done in a springy autumn type decor to fit the parents as well as the upstairs hall/family nook. The downstairs bathroom also has a laundry area. The living room is done in cool winter tones. I did not add too many holiday items as I felt it should reflect more of the actual season, this was done in the kitchen as well, but with an autumn coziness. There is an open area to place a tree and room for dancing for those times when you want to celebrate. I placed the fireplace in a cozy corner for some cuddle time fun. The kitchen/dining room is my favorite of the build and has some rich autumn influence. I tried not to clutter up the counters to much so there would be room to do lots of cooking. The family nook upstairs has some items to help them get creative, especially as Nicolas grows into a child. Summer's bedroom has been done in a warm beach type decor and she has her own bath in matching tones. Nicolas' bedroom has been done in a winter lumberjack theme and he has his own bathroom as well. Just replace the bed and potty when he ages up. The master bedroom and bath have been done in mainly spring tones with some autumn influences here and there. I hope you will be happy in your new home, no matter the season!

ENTRY DETAILS: The goal of this build was to bring together the seasons, and their colors, into one coherent home, where the influences from each can be seen, and not found awkward or smooshed in. I think I did a pretty good job accomplishing it! It's a fun house, full of color and personality, the individuals all embraced rather than muted. The wants of all have been met (and possibly exceeded), and smiles and playfulness abound. Everyone comes together under these roofs and learns from each other, shares in with each other's trials and tribulations, and still manages to get some quiet time when they want it. The large entry way gives a taste of the lower floor, but still is welcoming and obviously family driven. A space for transitions and togetherness at the same time. The family room is split into two seconds, one for lounging and tv, the other for cuddles and imagination. The dining room is formal and captures autumn at its finest, and the kitchen is large, open, and inviting. The bedrooms are all tailored to their occupants - the master bedroom being one of the biggest challenges, melding together spring and autumn. The yard is landscaped, with still some room for growth as Arthur gets better at gardening. There's a patio bbq, a playground, lots of run room, and a fenced in pool to protect the toddler from accidental roaming.

ENTRY DETAILS: Reality show darlings, The Climates, have requested a new home with everything they would need to enjoy not just one or two of the seasons, but all four of them! While Spring is Arthur's thing, Fall is when Janine feels most at home in the world. As for Summer, well, her name says it all! And while sweet little Nicholas may look chill on the outside, his heart is super warm during his favorite season of Winter because he has his loving family to spend it and the holidays with! This two-story, three bedroom home features a greenhouse, as well as a patio and pool perfect for entertaining. Just be sure to stay out of the water in the winter! The Seasons are here, which means reality just got a little bit more real for The Climates.

The Four Seasons >> SEASONS IN THE SUN <<
The Climates needs a new home, reflecting their love for the four seasons. Spring: Arthur wants a greenhouse and a garden. Janine loves fall and wants all the lovely colors of the season to be incorporated in the furnishing and décor of her kitchen and dining area. The household teen, Summer, is all about splashing in the pool and having friends over for barbecue during the heatwaves of July, and little toddler Nick loves winter – with snow, cocoa in front of the fire, holiday and presents.
Thoughts behind:
I made a typical desert home suitable for summer and heatwaves – this means pool area, well groomed garden and lawn (lots of sprinklers to keep the grass green), multiple seating spaces on the outside patios, a barbecue and lots of outdoor activities for the entire family.
However, this home is equally suited for the other seasons too. There’s a vegetable garden patch for spring and early summer and a greenhouse for those delicate plants that can’t survive in winter. In fall and winter, don’t worry about being cold – the cozy den is the perfect place for some family cocoa time in front of the fireplace.
I’ve included a mudroom/laundry room for when Arthur has been fiddling in the garden and gets all muddy and dirty. Janine will definitely not be happy if he leaves a mud trail all over her floors.
Of course, the house also includes all the usual rooms – lounge room, hallway, bedrooms, bathrooms. The bedrooms are furnished in color schemes according to the persons’ favorite season, and the décor fits too. Blue and white, and lots of snowmen for Nick. Yellow and green, and sunflowers for Summer. For Janine and Arthur, I chose a mix of green, dusty blue, and light and dark browns, with lots of floral and leaf patterns to show their love for nature.

#BnS99 - Back to their Roots

You already have an idea in your mind what the young, professional couple across from you might be looking for. One a respected doctor, the other a junior partner at a law firm, their life ahead seemed to play out in your mind like a tv serial. You imagine a modern, minimalist townhouse, or a high-end apartment; maybe even a joint office building and clinic. You have your pencil at the ready to take notes.

“So, Dr. Chen, Mr. Chen, how can I help you?”

“My husband and I, we have talked a great deal about where we want to go with our lives,” Dr. Chen says. “Being a doctor and lawyer can be rewarding, but we do not feel that where we are is the best place for us.”

“We need a change of focus,” Mr. Chen agrees. “Less stress, less… city life.”

“Oh?” Less city?

“We have decided to take our savings and buy a small farm, somewhere we can get back to nature.”

“A-a farm?” This is so not what you expected!

“Yes,” Mr. Chen nods. “Where I can grow tomatoes, and maybe help the local people with their legal matters.”

“And I can have a small clinic, and really help change people’s lives,” Dr. Chen adds. “My grandmother used to make remedies for all the people in her town back in China, and the more I live here, the more I think that is what I want to do with my life, too.”

“We feel this city is too big, too busy for us to connect to our clients and patients the way we want.”

You nod, pushing aside your assumptions and fully embracing their commitment to a new way of life.

“A farm will need a house; tell me about your needs.”

“Two bedrooms, at least,” Mr. Chen says. “One for us, and one spare room that can be made into a nursery if we need it to be.”

You smile at the thought. “Anything else?”

“A good kitchen. Health is so important to both of us.” The couple looks at each other. “Everything else is just the usual. Nothing fancy. A simple house in the country where we can raise some crops and help people.”

“Leave everything to me,” you assure them.

ENTRY DETAILS: This home is inspired by traditional American rural farmhouses, it reminds me very much of my grandmother's house. This small farmhouse has an open kitchen, dining and living room. There is a quiet study off the front entrance, a bathroom with freestanding tub and hidden laundry facilities. A cozy master bedroom with double doors to the back porch completes the first level. The upstairs has a hobby room, nursery and a bath tucked under the front dormer. Note: This level must be played with all walls down in order to actually see your sims. The backyard has several gardening beds, a beehive and a firepit nestled under the shady oak tree. The back porch includes a flower bench and woodworking bench for the Chens to get started on their domestic skills..

ENTRY DETAILS: Honestly I struggled with this challenge a lot. Budgetwise and stylewise. Never have I ever torn down so many buildings.
In the end, I went for a New England Style Stone Cottage in rural Windenburg. Simple life - no tv, no dryer. Bookcases, a gametable and a garden to tend. I bet landscaping took half of the budget. For the interiors I went for a rustic country design with a lot of white painted pillars and ceiling beams. And I wanted the feel of an old house. Creaking floorboards, odd niches and nooks and a lot of rough plaster.

Welcome to the Hygge House!
Hygge is the danish word for the concept of comfortable coziness achieved by indulging through basic pleasures. This rough stone cottage has the natural feel that achieves an atmosphere of hygge beautifully. The location of this cozy french cottage is a big selling point to the Chens; beautiful natural farmland and rolling hills, but just a stones-throw away from the little village where they can work and enjoy the community.
The building is old, but made to fit the Chens standards. It has everything they need for a simple, slow-paced country life, but not a drop more. It has abundant charm and rustic country vibes, a beautiful natural garden and lovely outdoor living space. The house itself is small but sufficient. We hope the Chens will adapt well to this new lifestyle, it's quite a change from modern city life.

ENTRY DETAILS: From the brief I took Dr. and Mr. Chen to be of Chinese origin. They seem to have left and went to the big city, and now they desire something quieter and more simple than the action in a busy place like San Myshuno. I took them back home, yet not so far away. There's no where that relieves your troubles and stress quite like home does. So, in the country, there's a cute Chinese style house just waiting for them. It has gardening to do, and a beautiful Zen garden to do some emotional healing. A place to relax and heal their minds. Not to mention a place to accept their clients and patients to do do the same! Such a helpful couple, I feel they can turn Willow Creek around.
It's a two bedroom house, Master and Guest. Mostly open floor plan, Chinese decor, and a separate office for clients.

ENTRY DETAILS: Dr. Chow Chen met Mike in the city. It was a bit of a whirlwind romance when Mike proposed shortly after they got together, Chow was thrilled and even more honored that Mike changed his name to Chen. Chow and Mike were already both heading for success in their fields and but when it came to the most important priorities of life, they agreed that, though they could be conventionally successful in the big city, they wanted a slower and more in-touch life--and when children came along, they knew they wanted more green space to raise them. Dr. Chen is a bit more stylish than Mike, with Mike's style being a bit more relaxed.

ENTRY DETAILS: I went with a bit of a modern take on a farmhouse for the Chens. It has the classic lines and built-over-time look of a farmhouse with a metal roof to add clean lines and black painted mullions to add a graphic look to the architecture. The building also includes a home office with its own entrance from the front porch so Dr. & Mr. Chen can see patients and clients in their new home. The interior reflects a more modern take with a little eclecticism and sleekness to keep it from looking too "country kitsch" and with little to no clutter, keeping with a simpler lifestyle and modern living. A large patio with stone walls allows for outdoor living when the weather permits with a seating area, a dining area, and a grill. The second room upstairs, which can serve as a nursery when the Chens are ready, is currently set up as a guest bedroom/office. The kitchen has open shelving as homage to the kitchens of yesteryear but the simple shelves reflect modern sensibilities and the lack of upper cabinets keeps the kitchen feeling open. The greenhouses are divided into flowers and ingredients. The orchard is fenced in on the right side of the house. All plants are perfect quality. The shed includes a flower arranging table and a woodworking table.

Adjoining the barn used to be a store, which has now been converted to the offices of the Chens. A doctor's office for Dr. Chen and a law office for Mr. Chen. Both offices share a restroom. The silo houses a tool shed and woodworking area for Mr. Chen to relax and create some wood sculptures. There is a greenhouse shed and a huge garden for Dr. Chen to grow her prized tomatoes as well as several other vegetables and herbs. There are also fruit trees and a fishing pond on the property.

“Your appointment with Mr. Pascua is here,” Karl says over the intercom.

“Thank you, Karl. Please send him in.”

You rise to greet the man as he enters, impressed with his build. You aren’t sure what you had in mind but he seems to be almost a bodybuilder!

“Thank you for agreeing to see me on such short notice,” he says as you motion towards the chair.

“Not at all, I’m happy to fit you in,” you reply with a smile. “Now, your assistant said something about a resort?”

“An ocean-side resort and hotel,” he confirms.

“That’s quite a project,” you say, but love the idea. This town could use something special to draw more tourists.

“Economy is up, people want to travel. But they need a place to stay when they do.”

ENTRY DETAILS: I chpose Brindleton Bay to build in. It's my favourite world and one I find more comfortable building in as I prefer the build and buy items. I decided on a beach-style hotel, with individual rooms accessed through their own front doors and porches. The luxury apartments get their own private space at the back of their rooms and have more luxury fittings. I also really wanted to include and outdoor barbecue area and also a stage area for performances outside at night time, one of my fondest memories of being on holiday. I chose to stick to blues and white but did make some of the rooms individualised.

This is why the family suite does not have a table and chairs for eating at.) Welcome to Anchors Aweigh Resort. A seaside family friendly resort. ENTRY DETAILS:Ok, so this resort got a bit bigger than intended.... I like to imagine that at first there as the lighthouse, the old farmhouse and a chapel and over the course of a few years the owners kept adding little cottages to expand the resort. There are three luxury rooms, 1 room with a single bed, 5 rooms with double beds, 1 room with two singles, 2 rooms with three singles, 4 rooms with four singles and 3 rooms with two doubles. For dining there is the hotel dining room or the lighthouse restaurant (which is also open to the public). To spend time inside, there is a gym and a sauna, as well as regular boardgame evenings in the lobby and quiz nights at the restaurant bar. Outside there is a fishing pond, a huge sports pool with the option of playing waterball or doing aqua fitness courses, a horseshoe rig and some herb gardening courses next to the old chapel. Of course, one can also relax in the hot tub or at the pool bar or go to the private beach on the left side of the property or do a quick hike at the public areas just next to the resort.

ENTRY DETAILS: Inn By The Sea is a family resort which is both child and pet friendly. There are many fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. There are lots of gathering spaces both inside and out, including some private ones for those romantic getaways. There's a lovely Wedding Lawn with breathtaking views of the ocean. The Inn includes a Wedding Reception hall, dance floor in the gazebo and outdoor dining. There are two ponds to swim or fish in. It includes a pool, hot tub, horseshoe pits, fire pit and lovely gardens to stroll through outdoors. Indoors consists of eight guest suites, many gathering spaces (some with fireplaces), a lounge/game room and a play room for the young ones.

Oceanside Resort >> Lakeside Retreat - on Windenburg Island<<
Lakeside Retreat is a 5-star hotel on the Windenburg Island, recently renovated by former bodybuilding champion, Chris Pascua. Apart from its tastefully decorated rooms and suites, fine dining restaurant, and the famous basement bar, the retreat offers a wide variety of leisure activities (for instance lake swimming, skittles, petanque, basketball) as well as a fitness room with sauna.
The retreat – in details:
Nestled in the woods of the Windenburg Island is where we find this lakeside retreat. It has recently been acquired by former bodybuilding champion, Chris Pascua, who has put a substantial amount into renovating the once very famous family retreat. He has now fully refurbished the entire building, and the retreat quickly gained the status of a 5-star hotel.
All rooms are fully furnished (double beds, desks, seating areas, and tv), and all have ensuite bathrooms with shower and tub. Every room has access to the balcony surrounding the building, and has private seating just outside the room. Rooms are available with either lakeview/oceanview or view of the Windenburg Island Woods – some has both. Standard rooms are located on the first and second floor.
On the top floor, there are two suites. Both suites are equipped with a sitting room with fireplace, a tv room, bedroom and bathroom. The suites also have private bars. All hotel and housekeeping services are free of charge, and fruit baskets, beverages and toiletries are restocked daily. Furthermore, the suites have access to a shared coffee room, placed in the landing area of the top floor.
The ground floor holds the main entrance, lobby and the restaurant. Also, there’s a staff entrance leading directly to the back office, which has access to the reception desk.
In the basement (can only be accessed by using the outside stairs), you’ll find the bar, the gym and the sauna. The bar offers a variety of special brews based on the old recipes of the Windenburg Islanders, and has a small game room with darts and foosball table.
The Housekeeping dept and the staff changing rooms are also placed in the basement. There’s direct access to these areas by using the staff stairs from the back of the building.
The restaurant is open to the public, and not only guests. It has both indoor and outdoor seating.
Outdoor activities: Lake swimming, diving, fishing, painting, yoga, suntanning beds, campfire, basketball, horseshoe game, petangue, skittles. It’s also possible to go hiking or jogging in the woods.

This is the lobby of a little hotel in the woods of Brindleton Bay. Lots of wood and soft green tones give a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. At the back there are two doors going to public areas (dining rooms etc.) and the two stairs lead to the rooms.

#BnS101 - Five by Five

The deadline for this challenge is 22nd August 2018


The young lady sat across from you looks like she could handle herself in a tough situation, and as she absentmindedly plays with her cuticles you wonder what she is thinking.

“Well, you know, I really need a place of my own, somewhere without other people’s ‘stuff’ around.” You know from Karl that she is currently sleeping on a friend’s couch.

“It needs to be small though, I hate large spaces, they feel too, ummm big.”

You can’t help but have your heart melt a little when she struggles to find a word for frightening that wouldn’t hurt her bad girl exterior, you sense in her eyes that this is not her true persona.

“So, Faith, do you have any particular style in mind?” You ask her, expecting her to want a grungy, industrial look.

“Nah, whatever you want.”

“Really, you don’t mind what style architecture or interior design?”

“Nah, it’s all five by five.”

“Five by five?” You ask.

“You know, it’s all good.”

She thanks you for her time, and as she stands up to leave, you swear you see a wooden stake peeking out of the inside pocket of her leather jacket


THE BRIEF


Design a home with no more than 25 squares in total (your building does not have to be limited to one story, but must not consist of more than 25 squares of living space, total, i.e. adding the ground floor tiles to the upper floor tiles, the number of tiles must NOT exceed 25) - eating area can be outdoors as well as hobbies.
You may have a covered outdoor area as long as there are no walls to it.
You may use exterior walls as decorative items, but they cannot be used to add any liveable space.
Must be on a 20x15 lot - but this can be in any world.
Overhead shots with grid lines on are 100% mandatory for this challenge, your build will NOT be judged without them.
Any architectural and interior style.
Make sure you don’t forget the landscaping.
For this challenge and this challenge only, our admin will download and play test each lot, to ensure that the homes are playable.

ENTRY DETAILS: #BnS101 Meet Faith! She is the daughter of a very rich and famous mogul. She has decided that the mansion life is not for her so she ran away. She's a little scared of the real world because she has never been outside of the mansion walls before, and she has heard a lot of stories about vampires! So she thought about it and decided to dress tough, thinking that will help those evil vampires know not to mess with her. After a few months of crashing on friends couches, she only had one credit card left that she hadn't max out yet! So she used that card to buy a tiny house/fortress to stay safe in.

ENTRY DETAILS: I was thinking if you're trying to hide form vampires, what better place to go than the last place vampires would want to be - Oasis Springs! Being above ground gives Faith an excellent view all around. The rocks and water on two sides provide a natural barrier to some threats, and a screen of trees blocks the view of the neighbors to the east and hides the exact location of the stairs leading up.

ENTRY DETAILS: Small? Yes,small I can do. I had anther small build I did a while ago and thought maybe I could change it up a bit. Gesh I thought that one was small. It was huge. Sot I tore it apart shrunk down parts and came up with this! One thing I did reuse was the wall bookcase...which led to a problem. When I play tested I sent Faith to read a book, Didn't work. But no route failure. I looked in the case...all the books were gone. LOL

ENTRY DETAILS: Kind of a modern urban chic vibe, this little starter is just right for the sim wanting a place of her own. Has a small kitchenette with cabinets, a place to chill out on the computer, a book nook--ahem, well, a bookshelf, a separated bedroom with a tv to entertain/learn on top of the dresser drawers (functional), and a full bath (no tub, but has a nice shower) with some extra storage cabinets. This builder has also left a little gift - a pear tree as a welcome for moving into the place.

ENTRY DETAILS: Nestled amongst the warm glow of hanging lanterns, this semi-studio starter home is a perfect place for anyone who is agoraphobic or who just wants to have a private getaway with plenty of security light at night. A cozy, tightly-knit layout leaves ample room to move indoors to access life's necessities, while leaving plenty of green space out of doors for gardening or just stretching out in the sun. Garlic-scented mirrors are complimentary for an added layer of security.
This lot is placed at Comfy Cubby to showcase the way the home being encased in trees shields it from the surrounding neighborhood, no matter how dense or sparse it may be. Lantern Lilac Lodge would do well on any 20x15 lot, but it would probably stick out a bit on a desert lot like Oasis Springs.

Welcome to 25 Merrylane. This is just an ordinary little house on an ordinary little street, nothing to make it stand out or attract unwanted attention. This house is carefully designed to look very unsuspicious, while giving our young lady all the advantages she needs when dealing with vampires. For instance, the garlic plants planted right at the foot of all the stairs, so all but the hardiest vampire will think twice before even coming close to any entrance. The windows have been placed to give full view of the outside from every angle. There are also two backdoors to provide multiple escape options in case a vampire may get inside. The second backdoor has two escape routes, in which she will be protected but still able to see if someone is trying to sneak up on her. This leaves her plenty of options to get to safety, just in case. Sidings around the house make sure no-one can be hiding out of sight or around corners. This little house is safe as can be, while still feeling like home.

ENTRY DETAILS: Faith Gnomoria...not her real name. She needed to change it and leave...soon. She was running scared and sleeping at friends house day to day or week to week if she was lucky.
Why the panic? She was being hunted by vampires. Not just any vampires but her sister and her sister's boyfriend.
When they were turned by Vlad they wanted her to join them. But Faith thought otherwise. But eventually things got better
and worse at the same time because they were destroyed by vampire hunters. Her running was over.
Good they were gone but sad they were gone too. They were family.
She went back to were it all started and gathered what she could to start a new life.
Hopefully a quiet one if she had anything to say about it, hopefully vampire free too.

ENTRY DETAILS: Faith is not your average young person; her hidden depths give her a unique approach to life and a need to live close in her environment. That said, when she DOES make friends, she makes them for life.
Faith quickly cultivated a mastery of vampire lore out of necessity, but she’s otherwise skilled like any independent, single, young person out on their own. She maintains an excellent level of fitness and well-being (including a fondness for hydrating with orange juice to stave off illness), and she’s quickly working her way up through skills that will help her survive on her own and manage her own home. She’s secretly afraid of thunderstorms, though she will occasionally step outside to yell choice words at the rain when it persists for hours or days and interrupts her exercise schedule.

ENTRY DETAILS: Yay, a small build! Guess I got lucky there, seeing as I only have this morning (meaning the last three hours) to finish this challenge before I don't have access to the game for the next five weeks
I decided to build a trailer for Faith - she seemed a bit scared of something, so if she gets uncomfortable on her current lot she can just up and move to another one. Just i case it's vampires, i gave her a little seed package and some planters, maybe she'll plant some garlic. The trailer has a combined kitchen / living area with plenty of storage and a small but comfortable sleeping space right next to the living area. Ther also is a TV to keep up with the current news. A full bathroom at the front of the trailer rounds up the indoor space. Under the covered outdoor space - something we call a 'Vorzelt' in germany (i.e. caravan awning?!?) - there is an outdoor cooking area and some seating. In the garden I added a firepit for burning all those pesky little monsters/vampires, just in case one catches up to Faith and she needs to hide the evidence.
I do hope putting the covered outdoor space right next to the trailer is ok, seeing as that kinda leads to the outdoor space having a wall. I tried leaving a gap, but that just looked weird...

FIVE BY FIVE ~ 25 Squares Lane ~
25 Squares Lane is a small house in a blue and white color scheme. It has two separate buildings, which are connected by a roofed outdoor dining area. One building holds living room and kitchen, and the other building has the bedroom and bathroom. Each building is 12.5 squares, equaling a total of 25 squares. From the roofed dining area, there is access to the garden patio.
The garden has cherry trees and flowers lining the fence, which cozily lights up at night time, making it possible to practice yoga both day and night.
There’s also a small gardening patch on the backside of the house – with bluebells and cherry trees. The front of the house has a small stony pathway going from the curbside to the front door, and the front yard is nicely decorated with trees and flowers.
NOTE: Due to budget limits, I had to replace some items, after I took the screenshots. I have replaced the dining table on the roofed patio and removed some of the pillars in the fence in the backyard.

ENTRY DETAILS: Southwestern Starter is a little Spanish-style home in the desert, which has been specifically built to ward off the creatures of the night. The main house is a split-level with a walled patio out front. Here, Faith can enjoy playing a game of Don't Wake the Llama with friends. To guard against any vampires, a garlic-scented mirror has been placed inside the front door. Once inside there is an open-concept living room, reading nook, bedroom and a private bathroom. A small flight of stairs leads to the sunken kitchen, which separates the main area from the cooking area. A side door, convenient to the kitchen, leads to an outdoor terrace dining area shaded by overhead rafters. There is also a stereo and tv in this area. Heading out back is a circular patio shaded by palm trees. In the back left-hand side, there is a garden planter planted with onions (I don't have the vampire pack, so let's pretend it's garlic), a woodworking table in the center (for crafting all those wooden stakes) and a punching bag on the right for Faith to keep in shape. A small flower garden and fountain (filled with holy water) frame the back wall. In the right-hand corner, there is also a bonfire. To stay refreshed in the heat, there is a small swimming pool near the outdoor eating area. This is truly the ideal world and house to keep Faith safe.

ENTRY DETAILS: 815 Starter Way is a modern micro home. The interior uses bright colors to keep the mood cheerful and has a skylight to provide lots of natural lighting. Inside you will find a bookcase, computer, TV and stereo. Outside you will find a pool, a chess table under the mesquite tree and a raised planter box, where Faith can plant some garlic plants. I chose to do a natural landscaping to blend in with the neighborhood.

ENTRY DETAILS: Well, it's small! I wanted to give Faith a double bed, so I might have given myself an extra challenge there, but it worked out. There's a TV and a bookshelf for entertainment, and there's exercise equipment out back. The kitchen is fully useable, and there's both and indoor and an outdoor dining table for two. The lot has been playtested for a surprisingly high number of days.

ENTRY DETAILS: I'm a big fan of programs like "Tiny House Hunters", "Tiny House, Big Living", "Tiny Houses On Wheels", etc. I´m a big fan of tiny houses and starters in The Sims as well, so I couldn´t resits to this funny challenge. My layout has 4x6+1 plus the covered porch. I combined soft colors in wood furniture and curtains with vibrant and fresh colors in other textiles and decoration elements. I tried to add the maximun of comfort and activities to this lot and reflect how the tiny houses community feel in RL. I built it in New Crest, at the Oak Alcove Lot, because you have a BBQ area behind it and your sim always can eat for free LOL. I enjoyed a lot play testing it And my sim too

ENTRY DETAILS: This small yet charming bungalow is full of vibrant colors and boho chic details. As you enter this one room home there is a small sleeping area with some drapes to add privacy. The kitchen is small, and needs a little work, but it has everything necessary. There is also a small bathroom. The home is perfect for a first time buyer! The property has plenty of tropical flowers and trees, and the real seller of this home is the beautiful back patio where one can enjoy a late evening meal with friends, or have a swim in the pool.

ENTRY DETAILS: I was inspired by Faith as the character from the tv show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Remembering where she lived in the show, I went for a grungy, slightly grimy place. Therefore I picked the harbour area of Brindleton Bay. I also have this vague recollection that purple was her favourite colour, next to black, at least she wore both colours a lot in her outfits lolz. So that became my colour scheme for the interior of the house. Faith is a tough cookie, but in the show she also had a softer side. So in the interiors I also included that in the shape of a few stuffed animals and toys reminding her of her youth. Apart from that, I also wanted the lot to be practical for a vampire slayer. There's a workout area in the backyard, place for her car, a spot for gardening (with already a few garlic plants in place, cause you know, vampire slayer ). Inside is a computer and bookcase for research, a tv for relaxing and a basic but practical kitchen and bathroom.

The name & colors I gave Faith’s new home have significance. In my eyes, her life resembles lyrics from the song, Blue on Black by Kenny Wayne Shepherd. I put her story in a spoiler, so you can skip it if you want. It’s just a little something I quickly thought up, probably full of plot holes. But it was fun to write anyway.
Faith & her boyfriend, Jon, were once the picture perfect couple until one day he disappeared. She was distraught, angry and confused, wondering what could have happened to him. She along with help from friends, family and the authorities searched for him, but he was nowhere to be found. The Police believed he had left under his own free will and soon dropped the case.
Faith refused to believe he’d willingly left her and continued to search on her own when family and friends also abandoned searching, secretly siding with the Police.
Arriving home late one evening after another futile day of searching, Faith was horrified to discover her entire family had been brutally killed by what must’ve been some kind of animal judging by the condition of their mutilated bodies.
The Police theorized a cougar or perhaps a bear had come down from the mountains of Windenberg, became disoriented, lost and eventually hunger drove them to attack humans for food. They also now believed Jon could’ve perhaps been dragged away and eaten too. They advised her to lock her doors and left promising to issue an all-points bulletin to be on the lookout for any wild animals not indigenous to the area.
Late that night Faith lay sobbing in bed when she heard something strike a nearby window. Watching carefully she saw a pebble bounce off the glass and got up to investigate. She gasped in disbelief to see Jon smiling back at her gesturing toward the front door to be let in.
Faith quickly raced to unlock the door and opened it wide, but stopped short of letting him in. Despite needing the comfort of his love and being so happy he was alive, she wanted to find out what had happened to him first. He looked fine except a bit pale and his clothes were muddy, torn and stained with…something. Had he been in an accident?
He told her an unbelievable tale of going for a walk and being robbed, kidnapped, caged, starved and beaten by assailants wearing Ski masks. He said only thoughts of her and their love gave him the will to survive and eventually escape to come back to her, his one true love.
He begged her to believe him, shivering from the chilly autumn night air, and asked if he could come inside to warm up. Searching his face for truth, Faith decided to believe him and reached over the threshold intending to pull him inside.
She jumped back, rearing her head in confusion when he refused to be pulled inside the house and said she had to invite him in.
“But why?” She asked.
He only snarled at her saying, “Just do it!”
When Faith raised her eyebrows at his harsh tone of voice, he softened it to a pitiful plea instead. “Please? I’m just so hungry!”
The inexplicable feeling of fear filled Faith’s entire being when she noticed Jon’s eyes were slightly glowing red.
“Why are your eyes glowing? What really happened to you?” Faith whispered.
“What? You’re just seeing things, I told you what happened, now, come on Faith, invite me in!”
“I don’t believe you. I think you should leave.”
“You’re sending me away? Don’t you love me anymore? How can you be so cruel after I just told you what I’ve been through? I’m all you have left now,” he chastised.
Alarm bells rang loudly in Faith’s head. How could he know she was all alone in the world now if what he said was true?
“How do you know that?”
“Faith, look into my eyes and you’ll see. Everything will be alright now, okay? Just invite me in and we can be together again, forever.”
“NO. You haven’t explained yourself and you’re acting very weird. I don’t even want to look at you right now. I just lost my family, which you somehow seem to know about. Just… go away.”
Faith turned her back on Jon and pointed towards the street making her wishes clear. Jon began growling low his throat causing Faith to whip her head around and gape at his face which had transformed into something terrifying, like…a…beast. Oh My God! HE had killed her family and came back intending to kill her too. She just knew it!
Slamming the door in his handsome face, Faith ran upstairs to her Parents’ bedroom to retrieve the pistol her Father kept in a nightstand. Jon hadn’t come back out of love, he had lied.
Grabbing the loaded gun she quickly ran back to the front door and threw it open, aiming the gun at Jon’s chest. He was still in the exact spot as before, looking at her with the saddest eyes she’d ever seen.
“Don’t do this Faith. It won’t work anyway and just make a big mess. I didn’t mean to do it. I only wanted to see you, but, I was just so hungry. I couldn’t help myself. You have to let me explain.”
“You didn’t MEAN to kill them? How does that make any sense? They loved you, I loved you. How could you do that? Who are you? WHAT are you?”
“I am Vampire and I will always love you,” he said and then disappeared in a blindingly fast blur, like some kind of cartoon character.
Stunned, Faith collapsed to the floor and dropped the gun. She sat there for a long time with hands covering her face and wept.
Since then Faith has tried to learn everything she can about Vampires, but she still has a lot to discover. She knows that Jon will come back again for her and when he does, she’ll be ready. She loved him, and a part of her always will. But, she can’t forgive him for murdering her family and his heartbreaking lies of love.
He has to pay…
I wanted to build a two story house for Faith right from the beginning. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I love a challenge. I originally had the stairs inside the house, but put them outside when I realized there just wasn’t enough room for everything. Downstairs includes; a garlic scented mirror just inside the front door, a tiny living room area with a TV & bookcase, a full kitchen which includes a dishwasher and a miniscule bathroom featuring a shower and commode.
Upstairs is accessible by a staircase around the back of the house. They’re purposely designed to be creaky so she can hear anything, man or beast, coming up them. A braid of garlic hangs above the door to ward off any unwanted and/or unliving visitors. Faith’s bedroom includes a single bed, dresser and standing mirror.
Outside landscaping includes; a mini fountain, umbrella covered table & four chairs, a loveseat/bench underneath the staircase, fishing pond, easel, windchimes and a birdbath. I wanted Faith’s new home to feel secure, yet have a peaceful, serene and beautiful area to spend time outdoors during the daytime.

Faith came to earth at a young age. She grew up in a loving human family. Her world changed however when her mother was brutally murdered by a vampire. This left her with a deep seeded hate for the vampire culture. Scared the ones behind her mothers death would come for her, Faith ran away. She tends to keep to herself and has developed a distrust of others. If needed though she will fight back. To more easily move unseen among others she uses a human disguise which is kept as plain and inconspicuous as possible so as to avoid attention. The drawback of this disguise is that it doesn't cover up her alien tattoos. For this reason she tries to cover them up with clothing.

ENTRY DETAILS: As for my build, I was inspired by the character Faith from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer tv show. Faith is a tough, no nonsense slayer with a dark streak when she's pushed too far. But on the other side she is also a young girl who's been given a lot of responsibility, so inside her she also has a softer side. I based most of her outfits on what I remember from the tv show. Her outfits consist mostly out black and purple colours, with a bit of silver and red thrown in there, together with blue for jeans. She also wore a lot of simple, yet tight tops, so she got those as well. As for make up, she mostly only had dark lipstick and eyeliner on, never anything too fancy. For her swim wear and sleep wear, I had to wing it a bit more, as they never were on the show lolz, so hopefully they fit in with the rest. Also, my sim doesn't really look like the actress portraying Faith (not really good at celebrity sims ), but I do hope her character comes across. I gave her the traits Loner (as being a slayer is a secret, it's a lonely life), Self-Assured (she's tough this one) and Athletic (quite necessary if you want to face plenty of vamps )
