Which basement ceiling is the real ceiling that I should paint, the upper one or the lower one? It's hard to see all of the lower ceiling, but the upper ceiling doesn't seem to be divided up by room.the lower one which is the actual room ceiling I haven't noticed upper one changing anything
i also find it glitchy sometimes where the ceilings stay showing or don't show up so re entering the lot might help with that- PandoraTOSeasoned Vanguard

Ah, yes, that was part of the problem; I couldn't see the new basement ceiling, so I thought I was doing something wrong. I'll play around with it some more. Thanks! - PandoraTOSeasoned Vanguard

Iβve tried everything people have suggested and still I keep getting white ceilings in my basements. Itβs not a mod or cc issue as before the update I took my mods out and I have no cc. Also I havenβt put the mods back into my game yet as they were career mods for a different household. Maybe itβs a bug for me.
Something's going on, but I'm not sure whether it's technically a bug or whether it's more of a build mode limitation. I placed a ceiling directly on top of a basement room (not on the floating "false ceiling" above the basement), and the ceiling did show up in live mode when I looked up at it from inside the room. But it doesn't show up when you look up at it from inside the room in build mode.
I think part of the problem is that when you're in build mode and zoom into the room as close as you can, the camera seems to be at the same level as the ceiling. That's as far into the room as you can get. When I try to look up and see the ceiling, I can only see the saucer lights floating at my eye level (and the floating "false ceiling" above me), so the camera must be on the same plane as the ceiling I'm trying to see. However, in live mode, the camera can drop lower and then I can see the ceiling when I look up.
What I'm not sure about yet is whether the height of the basement walls makes any difference. My basement walls are at the lowest height. I'm curious whether anyone with higher basement walls is encountering the same issue. "GrumpyGlowfish;c-18292267" wrote:
Some gurus may think stars are just for children, but hell if I care! My simself finally gets to enjoy the night sky bedroom ceiling my real self always dreamed of. :star:

Ooooh, Pretty! also gives ideas for what to do with the kids rooms.- djsboonieNew AdventurerI love being able to paint the ceilings :). However, I can't get the Free Camera feature to work in build mode. Is it Shift + Tab to use it (like in live mode) or something else. I've tried the Shift + Tab without any mods/cc to see if that may be the problem but it still wouldn't work. This is *NOT* a bug report (yet); I'm just verifying info. I'll make a bug report on AHQ if there's no other way of entering Free Camera in build mode.

Pretty sure it's just Tab (Windows) w/ S3 camera.
I haven't patched yet but that's how it works in Live mode so I assume the same for BB. Someone else with the patch can confirm. - djsboonieNew Adventurer

Actually, I think I should have said "First Person View" instead, as I'd like to be able to see the painted ceiling in build mode in case I want to change it. Sorry for the confusion. - MrPlumbobSeasoned Traveler

@Starfree I have the patch, and as far as I know, the camera that was added to build mode is the free camera (you press just the Tab key to open it in both build mode and live mode. In live mode, the first person camera (the one that lets you see from the active sim's view) is shift+tab. As far as I know, they didn't add first person camera to build mode, just the free camera. (Haven't tried it myself though) You can still see the ceilings using the free camera mode, you just have to use the WASD keys and the mouse to move the camera around. (With the Q & E keys adjusting the height of the camera)
Hope this helps - djsboonieNew Adventurer@MrPlumbob yeah, free camera works but I couldn't see the ceilings so thought it was supposed to be First Person view. Thanks for the info on how to see the ceilings, I didn't know that!
@SERVERFRA That's probably my favorite one too . - djsboonieNew AdventurerJust a question out of curiosity: can you return ceilings to their boring white if you ever get tired of painted ceilings?
