🤕 EP05 Seasons : Refresh highly required

Hi,

EP05 Seasons is the worst Seasons EP ever done. Why ?

  • Seasonal gameplay missing : EP07 Island Living, EP10 Snowy Escape and EP20 Adventure Awaits have stole big chunks of this theme.
  • Calendar moved to Basegame : Overloaded by festivals
  • Rain and Cold Weather ruin everything : New festivals aren't designed to support rain and cold weather.
  • Holiday and Traditions aren't fun : The holiday goal is annoying in particular when the traditions aren't flagged as "favorite" for a sim and Traditions have a very limited number and isn't updated. No Grim Reaper or occult traditions.
  • Snowball fight isn't a fun activity, there is something wrong in the design.
  • Plantsim is part of basegame and EP19 Enchanted By Nature, it's not even is real occult.
  • Useless Lightning power : It could be used in EP09 Eco Lifestyle as energy source and in EP09 Discover University as instant recharge for servos
  • No custom Weather : What if the players don't want to obey to Maxis premade local climat ? There is no option to create our own climat.
  • Umbrella not enough multitask : Sims struggle with an umbrella, issues with toddlers.
  • No Weather on World map
  • No seasonal food : Ice cream and watermelon in Summer, oyster and chocolate box in Winter, ...
  • No igloo
  • No allergy

Two major features that I liked in TS3 EP08 Seasons were Seasonal Festival activities and Seasonal Lot, sadly TS4 EP05 Seasons didn't include them.

Maxis has turned the most liked theme into an unpleasant experience.

Out-of-control calendar

  • I wouldn't say it's the worst EP because I like having weather in the game, but I agree with you tough that some features could benefit from some changes.

    • I would like to be able to set the weather patterns/seasons, like we could do in TS2. This way we could choose whether to have snow in Ravenwood or Willowcreek.
    • We need to be able to decide what calendar holidays our sims take part in. When the pop up appears to let us know that Winterfest is coming up next day, there should be a button asking if our sims are observing this holiday. If the answer is NO, then there shouldn't be any bad moodlets about not celebrating. Would also be nice if the pop-up also prompted us to say what traditions our sims would like to observe if they are going to celebrate. Sometimes they might want to do a tree, and baking/grand meal, invite friends over, other times they might want to do just the tree.
    • Please give the sims raincoats/ponchos so they can use both hands when out and about in rainy weather. The umbrella is nice but not when they need to use both their hands.
    • Loved the igloo and ice lounge furniture in TS3, please bring them back, as well as the ice sculptures. Would love to make an ice sculpting festival and an igloo hotel.
    • They need to do something about the festivals that don't work nicely in bad weather. Either update the festival lots, or send a notification that the festival has been cancelled due to bad weather. Just as insects are only available during summer months in Granite Falls, so can some festivals only be available in certain seasons or weather conditions.
    • I would like if sims could store lightning power in battery packs. Put a lightning rod on the house and instead of the energy going into the earth it could be stored in batteries for later use.

In fact, I said "the worst Seasons EP", I mean TS2 vs TS3 vs TS4, TS4 isn't the winner.

  • This was all debated years ago. 😄 I guess it's never too late for the developers to take a second look.

I still hope that Maxis will refresh it.

$40 is very expensive for a pack without a world included.

  • EP20 Adventure Awaits and EP05 Seasons = Outdoor activities without checking the weather ...

No option to set alternative indoor activities when the weather and season don't fit.

    Swimming activity during thunderstorm

  • Now Maxis decide to remove Holiday when Getaway is planned.

    Holiday Getaway isn't allowed.

At this point, EP05 Seasons became an empty shell.

The fact we don’t have more customization for the seasons is the biggest reason I haven’t bought this pack despite badly wanting a lot of the other features. I rather be able to disable seasons of my choosing partly so I can have a break if I get tired of the seasons changing and partly for creative reasons. I think it would be fun to say make Ravenwood eternally fall if we wanted to while Willow creek is eternally spring. You could apparently disable seasons in previous sims games to have more control over them so I don’t see why we can’t in the sims 4.

Everything else you listed are complaints i’ve heard about the pack since it came out and they are another reason I hesitate to get the pack.

I remember even for Sims 3 I requested, a Season option/toggle to have Seasons without seasons LOL.

Some worlds I wanted rain/fall only weather for example for a storyline, but constant freezing/hail/light snow kept happening (I personally live somewhere very mild (coastal temperate rainforest) and fall is like mild rain, we rarely get frost let alone full freeze in fall (or even in winter)).

So I think customization per world should have been on the devs radar since Sims 3, but missed the opportunity.

It really is a missed opportunity. Controlling the weather and seasons more for storyline reasons would be so fun.

I’m in an area that deals with a lot of winter and short everything else lol. Speaking of since I didn’t mention it in my original comment I really love the original posters idea of adding igloos. Building those tends to be a pretty popular winter activity in a lot of places whether is just for fun like say in the backyard or schools yards or for competitions (same goes for snow sculptures)so it’s really disappointing they weren’t added.
