Balancing Genetics For Occult Sims

My occult sims had a set of fairy twins, and I can’t help but hate how their hidden form vs occult form look so drastically different.

My sims have had hundreds of offspring by now, most of them occult, and this is something that happens every time as far as I know. I can understand ears being different in fairy form vs hidden form for example, but it’s like seeing two completely different sims; different lips, nose, eye shape, face shape… the more generic features. Both forms do inherit from their parents (thank you November fix!), but the game treats the two forms separately instead of acknowledging them as the same sim. They even get their own separate hairstyles, and one of the twins even have a different eye colour in their occult form, but I guess that’d be cool… especially if more eye colours and details are added (different iris shapes, full + central heterochromia, etc).

This happens with mermaids too, basically any occult sim with a hidden vs real form.

I agree. I don't mind if the occult form hair/makeup is different from the human form but I don't understand why the whole face changes on the occult form.

I've been playing for several weeks with mermaids and fairies in my current save and the trick I use (although it is tedious, especially if I forget) is to leave the two forms locked in CAS when they first age up to teen, then go to the occult form, change the hair, so then the face will snap to be the same as the non-occult one, then I unlock the two forms so I can edit makeup and clothing independently and at least they have the same face again.

But it would be nice if the faces were the same from the start. Doesn't make sense that the occult form has a totally different face. I don't recall this being a problem with vampires, but I haven't played one in a while.

  • My sim is 27th gen she is a science baby from her mother, no dad and her mermaid face looks alot like my sim zero, same face shape, lips, neck and eye shape.

Tbh I quite like that her face is different from her normal form but it would be nice to get rid of that unsightly neck bulge that's been passed down through the generations. The total change of features seems to be much more noticeable with single parent science babies than with a baby from two sims which I get cause there's more genetics in the pool. Her son who's a science baby looks totally different from his mum in his mermaid form and I don't even know where his features have come from, he looks nothing like anyone from the previous generations! Its very inconsistent.

Oh my goodness, you can do that?! You must have to specifically edit the occult first because all this time I’ve been editing the hidden form first before unlocking (it feels better that way to me). I will have to try this in the future, but jeez that is truly tedious…

I don’t actually know for sure if this is an issue with vampires, I just assumed since they also have two forms. Let’s hope they’re fine!

I hope adjustments can be made to make the faces more similar. I do like the naturally different ears and teeth, you know… the body parts better known for changing amongst humans vs occults in fiction, but I feel like genetics between different forms is too whacky right now. Not to mention that manually changing features feels less true to their given DNA. 😔
