BG requests: DLC features
I analysed some packs and created a list of features that would make The Sims 4 base game look more like the previous The Sims base games. Most of them aren't key features for their packs, others are crosspack features and some are just small systems or animations.
(Edited to add the list from 2024.2)
• Skills:
- Baking skill (Get to Work): We have baking recipes on the BG, like cakes, cookies, cupcakes, pies, but not the skill. (Inspired by: Free the Baking Skill )
- Dancing Skill (Get Together): We can dance in different ways to different music genres on BG, but not build a dancing skill.
- Singing Skill (City Living): We can sing at karaoke/in shower (City Living), sing as mermaids (Island Living), sing holiday songs (Seasons), etc. Also we can't be famous singers in Get Famous if we don't have City Living. That doesn't make any sense since we have a music station there and can even create songs in BG.
• Adult hair:
We got those hairs for kids on base game a long time ago, but they didn't came to adult sims. Why children have these hairs for free while older sims need packs to have it?
• Lot traits (City Living):
- Party Place - A great addition to the party aspiration, social events and venues like saloons (BG), bars (BG) and nightclubs (GT);
- Romantic Aura - Perfect for venues like bars and parks where you go on dates and fulfill the BG and Lovestruck romance aspirations.
- Great Soil - Willow Creek have 2 garden-centered neighborhoods so how this shouldn't be the neighborhood's special trait?
- On Ley Line - The fact that Vampires have a paralel trait for this just makes me think of it as a basic thing. And lets be real Ley lines are more know for being found on natural places instead of a City that isn't even magical.
- Penny Pixies+Gnomes - The fae is present on towns from base game (Sylvan Glade) to packs like DU, ROM, and now EBN, how can they not fit them more than apartments world?
• Lot Challenges (City Living):
- Cursed - Willow Creek is based on New Orleans, the capital of voodoo, so why not having it as a base feature since we have voodoo practice there too?
- Gremlins - Doesn't the story begins in a house and a town (not city)?
- Spooky - Perfect for bringing the ghosts out since we can barely see them without Get Together and perfect for L&D in general.
• Clothesline (Laundry Day)
I really miss this features in Season since we can get our clothes wet during rain, but we cannot dry them and since we don't have new objects coming to old packs we should get it on BG (maybe rain too? Even EA knows they're basic adding it to Project Rene's base).
• Temperatures (Seasons):
Due to the existence of hot and cold weather clothes category on the base game, this would provide an in-game reason for it and give a deeper atmosphere to the worlds.
• Reputation (Get Famous):
You don't need to be famous to have a reputation in Get Famous and it'd add a nice boost to the BG depravity and popularity aspirations gameplay.
• Tanning (Island Living):
Why would we have lounge chairs if we can't get tanned without a pack? Also we have moon bath for base game but not sunbath, how does that makes sense?
• Fashion Preferences (High School Years):
We have these styles on the BG and even their fashion tags on CAS so why not have a preference for them?
• Puberty (High School Years):
Acne is a key part of teenage and is featured in teen-focused packs like Parenthood and High School Years. Also have facial/body hair and remove it on CAS, but can't shave it in Live mode. Why?
• Slumber Party (Growing Together): This is just basic family and friends experience and it would be a great opportunity to make the family members meet their children's friends so they can be invited for the birthday parties and also add another gathering gameplay for clubs (Get Together) and wolf packs (Werewolves).
• Milestones (Growing Together):
Base game has special notifications for specific life events that have milestones in GRO so why not just transform them into milestones on base game too?
• Conversation topics preferences (Growing Together):
We have all the "conversation topics" on BG so why can't the sims have preferences? Everyone should be able to experience the social compatibility in a life simulation game that praises the social life.
• Body freckles and moles (Growing Together):
We have freckles and moles for the face but not for the body. It's like having to buy High School Years for facial/body hair or Get To Work for pregnancy. It doesn't seem fair.
• Bicycle (Discover University/Growing Together): We have 3 packs featuting bicycles (DU, CoL, GRO) but its still missing in High School Years and also on the base game. We have a biker helmet in BG but we can't make a use to it since there's no bicycle. ✅
• Cheerful Changing Table by Kindermade (Growing Together):
As a core part of raising a baby, this one matches the objects design on BG so it doesn't make sense keeping it as a pack exclusive.
Fight intruders(For Rent):✅
Now that sims can fight intruders, i think this options should be enabled when we're being robbed by kleptos (and burglars) or having our house invaded by vampires.
• "Breaking and Entering" (For Rent):
This feature is perfect for kleptos, criminals, secret agents and detectives which/whose work a lot outside of this pack, so why not bring it to base game so it could be used for other features out of this pack.
• Atractivity (Lovestruck):
As social compatibility the attraction is a core feature for social and romantic relationships. Also since we gained 6 turn ons/off categories we could get 3 of them for free, since they're things that we already have on Base Game like hair colors, outfit colors and fashion, or we could get new ones that didn't came with the pack like: Eye colors, accesories, tattoos, occults, etc.
• Cemetery lot type (Life and Death):
There's a lot of cemeteries around the sims world but they're not actually functional. It also doesn't make sense keeping this lot type to a pack that doesn't have anything particular to make it work when we got wedding venue for free given that we could marry anywhere before it.
• Funeral event (Life and Death):
We can grieve with base game so why not bring this event to it? We don't need the funeral activities, (maybe) not even the guest attire customization since nothing BG have it, just an event to honor the dead. Also a BG podium would be enough to make it work.
• "Set Ghost Color" (Life and Death):
Since we didn't get anything new for ghosts in Base Game, this would be really appreciated given that ghosts are not known and liked for changing colors everytime and everywhere.
