Cool Details (i.e. Island Living)
Has anyone else noticed the awesome plants they have in Island Living? Thereʻs naupaka, the breadfruit tree (ʻulu), the hala tree, and the ti tree (lāʻi) most prominently. Itʻs so so cool how they added these and even have detailed descriptions on either the usage of the plant traditionally or the legends regarding the plant! The plants I mentioned were canoe plants; they hail all throughout Polynesia and were used for various things be it rope, thatching for homes, for food, or for lei and it was definitely the perfect addition for island living
Thatʻs just the plants too! THEREʻS KOA FLOORING GUYS!!!! KOA. FLOORING. For anyone who doesn't know what koa is, itʻs a tree indigenous to Hawaiʻi, itʻs wood is beautiful and highly sought after. It would be so cool if koa were more prevalent throughout the home designing like koa counters, koa cabinets, koa furniture, etc. etc. They could even add the koa tree as one of the plants to plant on the lot!
There are a couple other plants I think would be awesome if added. Thereʻs ʻōhiʻa lehua (it has a similar origin story to naupaka), kupukupu (a fern), palapalai (another type of fern), and ʻilima (a flowering bush). They could even add taro (kalo—another canoe plant) that could be used for decoration or to grow and eat!
Really appreciate the developers for adding these, itʻs so awesome!!!
Ke aloha nui!
