Could we please make High School Proms optional?

Looking at the new Adventure Awaits "plan a getaway" feature I noticed that "Teen popularity contest" was one of the schedule presets that you could do.

That sounds pretty cool, I want more activities for teens, but then I realized when are they going to be able to do that?

If you have High School Years, then teens are busy every day attending high school where they have limited time to do tasks, if they have an after school activity or a side job then they are also away on that several days in a week. On top of that every week on friday they have exams and every saturday they are away on high school proms.

Not to mention that if you try to skip prom and you have a friend or a romantic interest, then they are getting hit with a bad sentiment which lasts an entire week

Please make high school proms optional (maybe exams too) how are these sims going to enjoy any new pack feature if they have to worry about exams every friday and prom every saturday? Young adults have days off, they can take vacation, they are not forced to attend an event every week.

Proms are already optional. Your sim doesn't have to attend.

They get that it's the fact if your sim has a significant other and you don't go to prom the have a negative sentiment towards you.

Prom every weekend was a bad choice in the game like can we have a toggle to turn it off?

  • Yes, I would argue that High School Proms are very much not optional, they are scheduled every week in the calendar, they can't be removed, invitation occurs automatically to all teen sims in the game if you play in any household with a teen when prom occurs, so if you have some teen sims in some other households in your game who might be in a relationship all of them in the game are hit with a week long negative sentiment because "technically" they didn't get invited to prom because you chose to not attend.

Teens can also walk up autonomously to you and ask you to go to prom and if you say no, you are hit with a negative sentiment.

You see what I mean? How are teens going to be able to do anything on a weekend with a game mechanic like that?

    The title is misleading, then.

Your sim can suggest to their boyfriend/girlfriend not to go to the prom. Then they won't have any negative sentiment.

It still triggers for every other teen sim in the world. And teen sims propose to you to go to prom autonomously.

Don't you see? Teens can't use Adventure Awaits (at least not during the weekend), they are all going to be hit with the bad effects from not going to prom.

I'm not sure if they thought of prom when they made scheduled events in this new pack, I assume that they thought about it and that prom will not show up if teens have a scheduled event, but I wouldn't count on it.

Not to mention future packs, wanna create a teen band? Can't, they have to go to prom, can't host a concert during the weekend. Wanna visit a hotel? You better not do it over the weekend! The game is going to punish you unless your played sim says every week that they don't want to go to prom and that will still not stop all unplayed teen sims from being affected.

  • Unfortunately it doesn't wotk, even if I ask my sim significant other to boicott prom together, they get the negative sentiment. There's a bug.
