EA READ PLEASE Recent Autonomy Update

I noticed some changes in patch notes said they are not retroactive!!! and I'm guessing this isn't the only time this has happened "It is not retroactively fixed in old saves", namely discover university change for old saves so what do we do then as rotational players if we have a forever world we have spent hours and years on I don't know about you but I have very very custom worlds that are inspired by real world locations I have a 100% custom game no townies even custom NPCs i cant just start a new save EA how can you not be aware of the Forever World trend in your own community! As a rotational player as well I obviously want ALL the autonomy fixes and updates but if i cant have it on my forever world and there is only one modded way to do it which is risky GIVE us an option to clean a save but keep the sims and the buildings in the world as default in a new save so that we get the refresh of a new save but aren't having to manually copy every single household in a massive custom save and every single custom lot in ever world and then starting a new save so we get the updates everyone else does.

Every change you make should have the option to refresh the save (even if this function takes ages compared to normally saving your game it would be far less time than it would take to do all that manually, so that the updates apply to us also just because we play the sims 4 different doesn't mean we should be out of the some update changes. Or make every change retroactive to old saves as an opt in feature. And yes i know about the TS4 premade Household Tool mod but i am skeptical whether packaging the whole game to force a refresh save in my case would work mainly because like other custom simmers i start a save by wiping all townies using MCCC so that i can have a real custom world from the game itself not from people then i customize every one of them once they are from scratch generated by the game so I'm not confident it would work. So PLEASE EA help forever world simmers and custom world builders preserve their games but also so we can get all the updates too.

  • Hello QuirkyJamie As Simsplayer818 has pointed out, there are logical and technical reasons as to why some fixes are not retroactive. Usually this is done to avoid causing any serious issues to an active save file, which I personally believe is the right thing to do.

  • QuirkyJamie I understand your frustration, I have a bug that can't be fixed in my current save too and I only just started adding my Sims and lots to a new legacy save a few months ago. But there is a sound logic behind it. If a bug can be fixed across all saves without causing further corruption then it will be fixed everywhere. Unfortunately it's not always possible to do that without causing corruption or additional bugs. When fixing something they will consider exactly how to fix it without breaking saves or functions. We don't thank them when a patch causes more damage. It's also sometimes literally not possible at all to insert a retroactive fix whether it would potentially cause harm or not, it just can't be done. It's a huge game, some code is many years old.

So while it is frustrating to start a new save it helps to have Sims and lots in the gallery to get a head start. I'm glad my most detailed lots are there to save me some time and I'm recreating my Sims. With all the new content that's been added since I created them, they get their own little refresh and are better characters for it. I can't speak to how mods would help because I don't use them.
