Mythologywise, there isn't a significant difference between an Elf and a Fayrie. And i am shure we can mod the Fayries to be more "serious". I n my Sims 3 game i always sort of pretendet that plant sims, genies and mermaids are just three different subtypes of them and basically used ad mod to make a hybrid.
Elves possess very similar qualities to fairies.
The difference is elves originated before mankind where as faires have been considered demoted angels and born from light...Google.
Elves are healers and Fairies have God like powers and magic..Google.
Elves do not keep any close connections to humans while fairies will allow a relationship if they like...Google.
Both can have pointy ears but only fairies have wings....Google.
I don't think we need a new EP that introduces Elves because the occult can most likely be represented in Enchanted by Nature....Elves are also similar to witches with healing powers....
I'd rather have a Zombie or Genie as a new playable occult within the next year or so..
Merfolk, and aliens need more attention then elves.
