Entomology and cross pack functionality

I found that bee hives and worm farms from ECO Lifestyle gives Entomology skill.

But how about te "hundreds" of insects from Outdoor Retreat pack? My sim child sudies his caged Locust for hours, but learns no Entomology. I really think it should be a thing, especially because there were so many versions of insects in the OR pack. I love the b utterflies, but it just feels a bit wrong that a child collecting all insects in the Granite Falls forest and spending years of his life studying them will gain no skill about them.

Did anyone from the team state whether this might or might not be somthing they will patch in later?

  • They did add "Catch Insect with Net" option for OR flying insects with AA, and you can gain Entomology skill from catching OR insects with net. But you are right they won't from catching normally or for view OR insects—which is disappointing.

Ah, my boy already catched them. But thanks, if he would gain some skills by catching them that helps a little bit in a good direction. I do hope that viewing the insects will add to Entomology in the future, though.

I do hope they update regular catch, and viewing OR insects to gain Entomology too!

Honestly, IMHO they need a dev supervised thread to outline, list, and get feedback as a discussion with players to how to improve existing cross pack compatibility.

Some fine tuning re skills would be nice too. Today a sim spent a full day catching butterflies (got a total of 7, then exchanged a couple with the Buddy guy), then returned back home in the evning adding some of them to the habitat + seting up 8 incubinators(?) and chose to start raising a total of 8 larvas. She hardly gane skills, maybe 0,25 of 1st skill level.

Another sim practiced Archery for the first time, stopped after 1-2 hrs, and had built 1 skill level. It felt a bit unfair to the entomologist... Maybe it is he Archery skill that builds too fast, though.
